How to get rid of your leftovers - Part one

in #knitting7 years ago

Every knitter or / and crocheter can experience this. We buy yarn for a project, and we don't use the whole ball or skein, and the more projects we made, the more leftovers we have. At some point, we have a whole box or bag of leftovers, and no idea for using these. For my part, the leftovers fit in a big box.
The problem is, we want to get more new yarn, but there is no room left to store it... and this is exactly the problem I have... So, I decided to dive into my leftovers box, and try to make something out. I have a lot of sock yarn, and so, I naturally began to make some socks with stripes because there was not enough yarn to make solid ones. The socks I'm going to show today are crocheted, I find it easier for using the leftovers, because you can stop at the heel of the first one, begin the second up to the same point, and then, make the leg the length you want, in order to use the whole leftover ball you chose.

For these, I ended with only 2 grams left of the solid blue, and I feel lucky because I wasn't sure whether I would be able to finish the pair... They are now stored until next winter, when I'll be glad to wear them!
There is no special pattern, I just used the directions provided on some Drops crocheted sock pattern for the toe and the heel. Then, It's just some stripes, changing color every row.
Next time, I'll show you another way to get rid of your leftovers.

Those are really pretty. What a great idea for using up those little balls. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I can't stop crocheting more of them... it's such a great way to use the little balls!
