Sock Making : 3 July 2025

I was really pleased to get this yarn again for sock making; it's not cheap at around £6 per ball (or about 60 Steem), but it's good quality. I was able to find the link for the whole process I went through with that pair of socks here. It took me a long time to complete that pair of socks.

I made sure to read the label to check the amount was the same and the proportion of wool vs nylon which is supposed to make this yarn sturdier for wearing as socks.

I cast on 64 stitches this time and will follow the same 'recipe' I've used before and want to learn by heart. I wasn't that happy about the ribbed band which is made by alternating 1 knit and 1 purl, but it may get more even once the sock is washed.
In the photo above you can already see some of the ‘self-stripping’ and ‘fair isle’ motifs forming. I love this colourway very much : it’s summery and bright, and very easy to see and spot mistakes.

As I can’t knit all the time I reckon I will be finishing this sock in the next three or four days; it all depends on how much I concentrate on finishing.
I’d like to try a plain type of yarn next time to see if I can try a stitch, either lace or just a combination of knitting and purling to make the process more interesting.
Thanks for reading !
