This Eric Carle book starts in the Autumn when we see seeds blown from a flower in the wing. One of the seeds flies higher than the others as they sail through the sky. This seed flies too high and the sun's rays burn it up. But the Tiny Seed sails on with the others and escapes the sun's burning rays. In this story book one of the seeds lands on the top of a mountain in the midst of the ice. Mountain is so tall that the ice here never melts and so the seed that fell on the top of the mountain will not be able to grow. The Tiny Seed flies past the mountains and continues to sail on. As the seeds pass over an ocean, one of the seeds falls into the water and is drown, but the Tiny Seed sails on. As we continue this kids book, we see the seeds blowing over a parched desert. One of the seeds falls into the sand and dries out and dies. The Tiny Seed continues to sail on. Next in this book read aloud, the wind finally stops and the seeds fall down on the ground. A bird comes by and eats one of the seeds, but the Tiny Seed is so small that the bird does not even see it. As we continue to read aloud together, we see that winter has come upon the land. Snow falls and covers all the seeds like a soft white blanket. A hungry mouse eats one of the seeds for his lunch, but the Tiny Seed lies very still in the mouse does not see it. Spring has come to the land and birds fly by, the sun shines, and rain falls on the ground. This makes the seeds begin to grow and they sprout from the ground and roots grow deep into the soil. As the sun continues to shine the plants grow beautiful flowers. A hand reaches down and breaks the stem from one of the flower. A boy has picked a flower to give to his friend. Summer comes and the Tiny Seed has grown into a beautiful flower that is all alone. In this book reading for kids, the sun continues to shine in the rain waters it and grows into a taller and taller flower; it grows taller than the people, the trees and even the houses nearby. People come from all around to see the flower in its majestic beauty. Autumn comes and the wind blows and carries petals from the flower across the landscape. As this Eric Carle kids book nears the end, the wind blows harder and the flowers seed pod opens and tiny seeds are blown on the wind to start this journey all over again.
