🇰🇪 Travel Warning: What Kenya Did to Me and My 2-Year-Old Child

I promised to write more about what happened — and now that I fully understand the extent of it, I’m ready to share the truth. This is the full story of what I went through at the hands of Kenyan immigration authorities, how it affected me and my child, and why I cannot stay silent.

The Beginning: Blocked and Banned Without Reason

On April 23rd, I boarded a bus from Moshi to Mombasa. Everything seemed routine until we reached the Taveta border. There, I was denied entry into Kenya and sent back to Tanzania. No reason was given. No paperwork. No explanation. The only thing they said was:

"You must apply for a work permit if you want to enter Kenya again."

That was already frustrating, but it was only the start of something much worse.

Trying to See My Child: Lies and Scams

After being denied entry, I returned to the border just to see my child, not to cross. That’s when I was told Kenyan immigration wanted to speak with me. I hoped it was a step toward resolution.

Instead, I was given WhatsApp numbers to "officials" who turned out to be scammers. They claimed they could help with my entry and demanded I send them money for a work permit. Meanwhile, Kenyan immigration lied to Tanzanian immigration, telling them I had tried to cross the border again.

That was a complete lie. I had no intention of crossing. I was there only to visit my child and speak to authorities. This manipulation of facts was deeply disturbing.

Escalation and New Lies

Still hoping for clarity, I returned to Taveta Border again. This time, the story had changed completely. I was now being accused of illegally crossing the border at a location I had never even heard of.

I told them:

"I don’t know that place. I’ve never been there."

The officer insisted they had "evidence." When I pressed further, the conversation turned aggressive. That’s when the officer revealed the real reason:

"This has to do with a case from 2023 at the Lunga Lunga border."

And suddenly, it all made sense.

The 2023 Incident: Embassy Retaliation

In 2023, at the Lunga Lunga border, I was denied exit from Kenya and also refused contact with my embassy. I was stuck, detained without clear reason. Eventually, I was released and contacted my embassy myself.

Now, in 2025, I understood: they had never forgotten. The Kenyan immigration officer at Taveta confirmed it:

"We didn’t like that you involved your embassy."

So this entire situation — the lifetime ban, the false accusations, the scams, the aggression, the targeting — was retaliation because I demanded my right to consular support.

The Worst Part: They Made My Child Pay

And here is what hurts the most: my 2-year-old child is being punished in the process. At one point, a Kenyan immigration officer at Taveta even told me:

"The child doesn’t matter — it’s just a white child. You can do with it whatever you want, we don't care"

This isn’t just unjust — it’s racism. This is the kind of behavior people need to be warned about.

Conclusion: A Dangerous Pattern of Abuse

If a government punishes a toddler to get revenge on a parent, it proves the system is broken. If they lie to other countries, scam foreigners, retaliate for embassy contact, and weaponize racism — it is a danger not just to me, but to any traveler.

Even worse: when your own country stays silent, they become complicit. 🇩🇪

I cannot recommend travel to Kenya. Not for tourism. Not for business. Not for transit. Protect yourself. Protect your family.
