It has actually been a pretty strange winter this year. We almost always have snow on the ground at Halloween, this year none. We also usually have a two week zero or colder spell around thanksgiving, this year we have only had 3 days I think even remotely close to zero degrees. For the most part this winter temperatures have been 20-35 Fahrenheit. Snowfalls are usually only 3-4 inches at the most, these two 8 inch plus ones are big snows for us, not completely out of the norm, but pretty close to being there. last year for the whole season we only needed to be plowed 6 times, still a few more months to go so we will see what happens.

Unusual winter weather for us but I would rather have the snow than those below zero days any day of the year. The road maintenance people do a pretty nice job on the main roads,, takes awhile to get to the side streets sometimes, but over all a very good road crew in this part of Alaska. And the Electric company does a super job in most cases getting power back to people, they understand the dangers of no heat as well as the next Alaskan.
