Why You Should Keep a Diary

in #journal8 years ago

Today my mind is blank. I've no idea what I'm gonna write. Huh. Past week I've sat down every morning, the words just flows out on their own. As I said in the start, this steemit blog here is just for my own pleasure of sitting down every morning with cuppa tea, jotting away what's on in my mind that morning. I really enjoy it.

I've been keeping a very simple daily journal since -11. Date, what I did, what food, people, how I felt etc. Sometimes I write more if a particular day stands out, or I've experienced anything I felt worth putting on paper(I use Evernote).

I've never actually read it through from the beginning, I feel often that I should. So much has changed with me since -11. I would guess it will be very apparent if I spend couple hours reading it through.

The reason I started was for purely unflattering reasons. I noticed I had a hard time recollecting in my mind how I spent the last week, when people would ask or I when I wondered my self. On reason could be many days for me looked the same, with day jobs and that. Another reason could be I simply have a bad memory, which I'm not ruling out completely. I've concluded though that it's not bad enough to cause concern or in any way hinder my daily life, commitment and activities. I think it would be clear if it did.

So enough analasys paralysis. Why should you keep a daily diary?

- Fun looking back at your life, nice memories and reflections.

- Practicality. Where was I that day? Did I meet that person?

- Easy way to track you health.

- With a camera phone and evernote, you can easily attach a photo each day, photo diary.

- Improves your writing.

- You keep it up for life, you'll thank your self when your old. I promise.

I use evernote, super easy and free.

"analysis paralysis" - very good, great phrase - one to remember when experiencing it!
