Japanese Shrine　茅の輪くぐり　冬越払

皆さんこんにちは！　お正月が終わりましたが、この間訪れた神社の紹介を続けたいと思います。

Hello everyone! The New Year is over but I would like to continue introducing the shrine visited during this period.

神社の門に大きな茅の輪があります。
There is a big Chigaya (reed) at the gate of the shrine.

この茅の輪を通って神社に行くことにより穢れが取り除かれます。

By going to this shrine through this Chigaya ring, we are eliminated.

この茅の輪は無病息災を願う神具です。
This chigaya ring is a sacred tool that wishes for disease-free breathing.

日本では6月から7月の間に「大祓」という神事を行う時にこの茅の輪が用いられることが多いのですが、この神社では元旦の「冬越の祓」でも用いられています。
In Japan, this Chigaya ring is often used when doing a shrine called "oo-harae (big exhaust)" between June and July, but this shrine is also used in New Year's "Togoshi-no-harae (Exhaust of winter)".

これが元旦に行われている神社は珍しいです。
The shrine where this is done on New Year's Day is unusual.
