Setouchi starts Japan's First Business Airline for Members Only
Quest Aircraft owners Setouchi Holdings launched the first ever members only business airlines. They are using their Kodiak single engine jet that they developed.
Their goal is to offer a more upscale option in Japan's airlines market. They are also offering business cars and bullet trains.
Star Trek started their service in August with four aircraft and plan to add 20 more in the near future.
Business planes have never been successful in Japan because Japanese has a negative view of private airplanes as a symbol of wealth. They are trying to change that view with the Kodiac which can use short and unpaved runways. The airplane can use all of Japans airports which is a big plus.
So far, Sky Trek has signed up over and the public interest is growing. The service is marketed to people who can't afford a private jet but can afford a charter flight.
