If you’re in Fukuoka and you want some spicy noodle-dish, try Daimyo Chin Chin.

They are known for their spicy Dandan Noodles (担々麺 - Pronounced TanTanMen), a Chinese noodle-dish consisting of minced pork, sesame paste, sichuan peppers, chili oil, scallions and thinly sliced vegetables.

The noodle shop is quite popular among locals and have also been voted No.1 in the Tenjin Hot Food General Elections.

On this day, I went for lunch and had the Lunch Set B(800 yen or about $7). The set consists of noodles of your choosing, a simple salad and a bowl of rice with free refills. It’s quite common for the locals to order rice along with noodles because the noodles aren’t filling enough.

I chose the famed dandan noodles and then went to get some pickled radish and cucumbers.

The dandan noodles tasted amazing. Yes, they were spicy but a very colorful and flavorful spectrum of spiciness. The blend of spice was very well-balanced, and I tasted some delicious freshly ground sesame together with the sweet minced pork. The green onions or negs was very refreshing.

Let’s talk about the noodles. Slightly chewy texture and the wave-like shape allowed the noodles to catch the broth as it entered my mouth. The noodles tasted great; I could sense the amount of work that went into making and mastering the consistency, thickness and texture of the noodles.

Fukuoka has many good restaurants that serve delicious dandan noodles. But this was just amazing.

Just the fact that I still think about it when deciding from the list of noodle-shops in the back of my head shows how good it is!!

Although I didn’t order this time, their home made Annin tofu (Almond Tofu) is also super delicious. I’ve had a lot of Annin tofu but this one beats them all!!

If you ever have the chance to visit Fukuoka, I'd definitely recommend you check this place out.
