Bullying in Japanese Schools

The problem of bullying or the so-called in Japan ie ijime, has become a serious social problem. That's because ijime victims have to death or suicide, this is quite often the case.

In fact, sometimes teachers and parents are incapable of handling these social problems. The condition of seniority in Japan is very obvious. This is the trigger case ijime high enough in Japan.

Even the perpetrators are not only from the students but the teacher also there who bully his students, this condition is really bad. The ijime form there are many, such as direct physical violence, mockery, ostracism, etc.

Another trigger of ijime is that the Japanese are a homogenous society. They are used to each other, who are afraid to be different from others.

Homogeneous is uniform. Due to the ingrained homogeneity, different people will be subjected to Ijime. Different in what way? Whether it's positive or negative, such as smarter, shorter, has a strange hobby, more stupid, transfer student (new child), stranger, etc.

Anyway, they are judged to be out of habit, uniformity, or incompatible with group standards, then a different person becomes an Ijime target.

This homogenous form of society has been implemented since children. So it is not the charcoal of foreign children who get ijime treatment, just because he is different from his friends.

Research from Yoneyama and Naito (in 2003) describes the causes of the school as the "ijime" center, because it is the nature of the existence of the school itself in Japanese society ...

... such as authority (authoritarian), hierarchical system, power-dominant human relationships, etc.

Stop Bullying

The perpetrator Ijime is very clever to make the situation seem to be nothing. Usually, anyone who reports if ijme has happened then becomes the next victim to Ijime, so the surroundings will act pretend not to know when they see someone in-Ijime.

Things got worse because often the school and teachers would strongly deny the happening of Ijime in their school, because they did not want their school credibility to go down.

This "rotten" phenomenon causes the victims of Ijime to be abandoned and ignored by anyone, even by the school itself. As for the family of the victim Ijime, very often the parents do not know that their child has Ijime in school.

Then what causes parents do not know, but if the house can know more quickly, can be immediately reported to the school? One reason is because parents are indifferent to the condition of the child, other reasons for victims who do not want to tell their parents.

Indeed, some of the victims of Ijime's children reported this problem to their parents, then the parents went on to report to the school, but the situation worsened, where the school is generally not assertive, unable to prevent the increasing number of perpetrators of the Ijime perpetrators again.

On a TV news report about Ijime in Japan, a high school student who jumped out of his house, after being investigated it was known he had long been a newspaper Ijime. This is known to be found evidence such as school books full of writing that means " you die !".

This may be one of the thousands of actions of the perpetrators of Ijime against the victim, but there is also physical and psychological abuse. Physical abuse in the form of being beaten, stripped naked, in the head of his head, plagued his way, etc.

The more egregious forms of psychic assault, such as mocked, humiliated, summoned with a bad call, bumped into raids, ridiculed, lockers ruined, bikes in the pool cemplungin, his books were crossed out and inscribed with harsh words, etc.

This makes the victim feel ostracized when the victim reached a certain point then he felt not needed and wanted to die alone. So it was that the victims of Ijime committed suicide.
