SteemIT on caching servers to earn more money.

in #isp7 years ago

Hi guys,

I just joined this community and invested in SteemIT.

This post is more targeted at the founders. As the idea behind this site is to create the new facebook where the value created by the content is shared between the content producers, I was thinking that you could take this a step further.

Once you have sufficient content on your servers, you could look at a model where you invite the telecom operators (ISP) to acquire/purchase your caching servers so the content can be closer to the end users, and then reward the ISPs with tokens by the amount of traffic they create.

At the moment, the telecom operators are a bit disgruntled as they lay down the infrastructure and the traditional content providers (facebook, google, etc...) and the other OTT services get a free ride. There has been efforts going to to spread the value, under the model I propose it would give the ISPs an inventive to promote your content by getting it closer to the customers and hence a better quality of service. This is not something the current social media sites can do easily. You use this model as a variant of the zero-rated content that the likes of facebook push.

What do you guys think ?

Sounds like a good idea, but how feasible it is at this current stage ?

mmm... probably too early... still playing around with it in my head... this doesn't just apply to steemit, but other similar models like reddcoin and ubq... Can't stop thinking how facebook and youtube are going to respond to this model, as this will kill them
