Do know about Jamaica?
As a Jamaican who travels extensively and interacts with a multicultural audience, I have found out that people are always intrigued to know about this little island called Jamaica. This audience is no different, so today I am sharing with you snippets of Jamaica and its national symbols.
Jamaica is an island found in the Caribbean. It is the third largest and is surrounded by a large water body called the Caribbean sea. Its beauty is seen in the many physical features that nature has endowed her. About half of her surface is above sea level. The mountains, run from east to west and form the backbone of the three sections of the island.
The Blue Mountain range is the highest in the land. It raises from over 7,402 feet and goes through two parishes of Saint Andrew and Thomas. The other landforms of hills, valleys, caves, and rivers are picturesque.
The land is rich in minerals, a variety of crops, springs, and caves. There are six symbols.
The National Flag. It has three colors which have significance. Yellow represents a bright future and wealth while black represents challenges we face and overcome and the green is for vegetation and motivation.
The Coat of Arms. It depicts our diversity in race and cultures but stands together with the motto "Out of many we are one"
3 The National Bird. The Doctor Bird or the Humming Bird is endemic to this country. It is fast, beautiful and very small.
The National Flower is the Lignum Vitae, a beautiful and economic viable. It is found all over the island especially in the dry woodlands of the north and south areas.
The National Tree is the Blue Mahoe used for the making furniture and also aids in reafforestation.
6 The National Dish.is Ackee, a fruit that origins in Africa. It is grown islandwide and it is delicious

We as a nation has a promising and creative workforce which is very resilient.
