Spend Time Wisely And Maximize Your Personal ROI In Life

in #investment6 years ago (edited)

A treasured memory is the lasting gift of time well spent. - Tim Fargo

Why are we actually here?

It's due to human intelligence that we don't just focus on survival like other more primitive species do.

We always want to know more about the world that surrounds is, uncover its sources, define its scientific correlations, be able to explain it to ourselves and those we love.

However, in my insignificant opinion there is no higher meaning in life. There's at least not one generic purpose defined for all of us.

For a human mind which constantly strives for sense it's surely hard to accept that.

Yet I can wholeheartedly recommend you to go try.

If there was a higher meaning of life then probably to make it become your life: own it, shape it, make the best of it!

Don't search, live.

We all know those forks in the road that request us to make some critical decisions which may or may not change our future path forever.

There is basically no way to avoid them, they come with the all-inclusive package we're all given when being born into this life.

However, there are different options on how to deal with those nerve-wracking duties.

Many of us wait for the famous sign - that unexpected light sent out by the universe that magically relieves us of needing to choose on our own. In case we recognized having made the wrong decision at a later point in time we could still blame the universe for it.

From my own experience I can tell you that sometimes thinking a little less and living a little more is the very best option.

Most of the time the right way to choose already lies in front of us, we only need to open our eyes and be brave enough to do the next step. No subjunctive. No should've or could've.

And don't ever regret. There was a point in time when you didn't know it any better, and probably that one mistake will even turn out into the luckiest break of your life one day. Who know's?

There's no right or wrong, just this one and only life.

Ultimately, we don't have a mission here. None of us.

Invest in yourself.

Failing is part of the game, even though it's a barrier to those who're not born as true adventurers.

However, the more risks you're willing to assume, the higher the probability of an above-average ROI.

Love of adventure and its degree depend on who you are. Some of us are born with an hunger for adrenaline and may seek the ultimate extreme. To others a little change in routine may even be a great challenge.

Don't ever let others define your own level of risk.

But be conscious of how you spend your time.

Time is your most valuable asset, independently of your wallet.

You can spend that one minute only once, it will never be given back to you, and if you're lucky you'll get some more of them in order to try again.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post: there is no higher meaning, only the opportunity of life itself. We're all lucky to be born, and the rest is totally up to us.

Remember: It's all about maximizing your own personl ROI in life. Everything else is just pixie dust.

Enjoy!

Much love,
Marly -

Very well written and highly motivational:)
Seeing so many people wasting their time with in my opinion stupid activities makes me sad. Of course it's up to every individual to create their own life but today the opportunities are better than ever before. The RW Emerson quote sums it up perfectly.
Have a great day!

Thanks for your encouragement, @justdentist!
I totally resonate with that. Some may argue that we're living in a crazy world, but change always offers a lot of opportunities, too. The worst thing that can theoretically happen is that we fail and need to stand up and try again :-)
Wishing you a great start into this Monday!

This is just the type of post which I love reading before starting my day :)

Hehe, I'm glad you enjoy it that way! It's also the type of posts i like to read which is why i'm always especially encouraged to share such type of content here :-)
Have a good day!

This is so true. A lot of people think too much. Including myself.

However, in my insignificant opinion there is no higher meaning in life. There's at least not one generic purpose defined for all of us.

If you want to live or find a higher meaning of life then this is your mission. You could fail or not. But, it's definitely not for everybody. I personally don't want to sit on a mountain and meditate all day like those zen masters. But I think they definitely connected to something higher.

Good point, @aaronhawk! Thanks for the valuable addings :-)
Of course, everybody is totally free to have their own view on the world. I just think that many become obsesses with the idea of not needing to assume responsibility for their own doings and justify all their actions by believing in supervisory authority. In my point of view it's careless to give away something that important like accountability for our own doings.

But again... different cultures = different views. And I very much like to get to know new ones as you know :-)

Have a great day!

Which people you're talking about? Or what type of action?
A higher meaning of life would imply a holistic lifestyle. Which is a conscious lifestyle that intends to live up to the fullest potential. They're honest and take a lot of responsibilities as human.

I disagree but also believe that we do have a different interpretation of higher meaning.

I’m talking about sense. Life doesn’t have any major sense than living it. There’s no mission, nor overall goal, just the opportunity to be part of this world.

The type of action I’m referring to is e.g. getting lost in making plans for the future that will most likely never be accomplished. Many people don’t strive for their own happiness but rather try to impress others, fulfill a certain set of rules predefined by society or any other authority.

What is holistic lifestyle? I think that is something we all need to find out by ourselves. It’s nothing anybody could teach or show us. There are as much lifestyles as there are human beings. That’s my idea of living.

Yes, life can be whatever you want it to be.

I know understand where you are coming from. We talked about different things :D But i refer to this quote from Joseph Campbell:
“If the path before you is clear, you're probably on someone else's.”

What is holistic lifestyle? I think that is something we all need to find out by ourselves. It’s nothing anybody could teach or show us. There are as much lifestyles as there are human beings. That’s my idea of living.

Yes. We can learn different things from different human beings and imply it to our lives if we resonate with them. But we're all unlike so what works for others won't likely work for us.

I might on get my ROI in the next life 😅

Teheh, why wait? :-)

choose your future. choose life.

Yeah, choice is actually a gift :-)

Well written! However, seems like a bleak outlook on life in my opinion. We have our "x" amount of time on earth, once that is done so are we. I believe that there is a bigger meaning in life than living just for our own ambitions. Lastly, living solely for oneself seems pretty selfish.

Thanks, and welcome to Steem @nheppner!

Who are you living for then? :)
