Introduction

My name is Demetrio Errante, I am a science fiction writer and the author of the first book in the Infinite series. Only now do I begin to realize the parallels between myself as an author and the main character of my works, Jonathan Brooks.

Like him, I was born in one country but have lived in others—both in the West and the East. Each time, while traveling, I adapted to new cultures, mentalities, and traditions. A part of me remained in the past, making way for something new. These changes shaped not only me but also my worldview, which ultimately became an integral part of the Infinite story.

Infinite Series

The Infinite Series is a cohesive narrative about the Wanderer Jonathan Brooks, who lives in a world where, centuries ago, nations cast aside hatred and united into one state. They created a utopia, where science and progress became the foundation for development. It was here that scientists discovered the Primordial Space and realized that, beyond their universe, other worlds exist. Deep within this reality, a mysterious center of the Primordial Space is hidden. Direct contact with the center is impossible, which led to the creation of the Fracture Project.

In this story, the Wanderer must journey through the fractures of realities, traveling from one world to another to reach the center of existence. Each book will tell the story of one of these worlds, with the protagonist playing a key role in the unfolding events.

Infinite: The Fracture

Infinite: The Fracture is the first book in the Infinite series. It describes the original world where Jonathan Brooks's journey begins. Although his journey through the fractures will start later, challenges and trials will find him already at the starting point. The main idea of the book is expressed in the phrase: “In the games of fate, victory isn’t provided.” And Jonathan must play this game.
The idea to write this story came by chance—thanks to a series of events, fate, or chaotic inspiration. Whatever it was, the story sparked in my mind instantly. Strangely enough, I knew the ending but didn’t understand where it began. It took a year to find the starting point and connect it to the conclusion.

The rules of Existance

The most important stage in developing the book was to define the rules upon which the plot is built. There are only three, and they are unbreakable:

  1. One book — one world. Each part of the series explores a new world with its own laws and unique storyline.
  2. The price of a dream. Big goals require big sacrifices. The journey will be challenging—for the characters as well as the readers.
  3. World realism. Characters cannot be stronger than the laws of the world they inhabit. If this rule is violated, the characters will inevitably pay the price for the consequences.

What is blog about?

It took eight years to create Infinite: The Fracture. During this time, many events happened to me. Some influenced the plot of the book, others simply became interesting moments in my life. Whenever I start telling these stories, people usually remark, "You really have an interesting life."

In this blog, I will share these stories. Moreover, each of them taught me something, and I want to share this with you. Topics may range from differences in articulation between language groups to analyzing the development of nations and the divide between developed and developing countries.

I will also pay special attention to stories related to writing the book: creating characters, building cause-and-effect relationships, exploring the impact of technology on people's lives in a science-fiction world, and contemplating whether similar technologies could emerge in the real world.

For example: I perceive a character as a personality with their history, fears, and dreams. This story forms the core of the character’s identity, with secondary features such as gender, race, and so on being auxiliary elements that influence the core but are not the foundation.

Another story I want to share is how a plane engine failure led to an extended journey from one country to another. As a result, I stayed awake for five days and experienced micro-sleep for the first time in my life.

Conclusion

I am looking for an audience of dreamers—those who yearn for new adventures and are ready to dive into unexplored worlds. The Infinite series, and especially Infinite: The Fracture, makes you think, stirs emotions, and presents readers with difficult questions. This is a dramatic story where both the hero and the reader must overcome many obstacles to reach the end.

I, Demetrio Errante, invite you into the abyss of the unknown.
