Happy New Me On Steemit!
Hi everyone!
I joined steemit a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had the chance to introduce myself yet! I'm Liz, and I love spending time in the gym! (: My all-time favourite exercise is the deadlift. It's a great full-body compound exercise, working legs, back, abs, and even the arms! Nothing feels better than breaking the weight off the ground and feeling it move/fly through the air <3 This is also why I chose this picture to upload; I just love deadlifts haha!
I started lifting seriously in maybe June/July 2017, following a lifting program, and made a goal of hitting 2x Bodyweight Deadlift and 1x Bodyweight Bench. I hit both those goals within 4 months or so! :D I was so happy! I did start off with some lifting base for these 2 exercises though, so it's not as amazing as it sounds. But it did open my eyes to the benefits of a good lifting program, and how it would help translate to strength gains. Unfortunately, my squat numbers are very bad - I have a lot of difficulty squatting, and have some knee issues as well ):
For 2018, my bar is set even higher! I aim to squat more to bring my numbers up. Also hope that I can hit my next deadlift goal (100kg/220lbs) soon. Cheers to an upcoming year of gains (: Share your goals with me if you want to~ we can help cheer each other on!
Greeting from Hong Kong, nice to meet you! ^_^
Nice to meet you too! (:

Welcome to the Steemit Community and good luck on your next level of fitness goals!
Thank you!
Welcome! I too share your love of deadlifts! As far as knee issues and squatting go, I've found that the more I started squatting the less my knees were bothered. Of course you should start with reasonable weights. Also, some good knee sleeves can come in handy for keeping pressure around the joint and keeping them nice and warm. I use these they're not exactly cheap but they are worth it in my opinion. Looking forward to watching your strength journey, Liz!
Yes, I really aim to build up more muscle and work on form so that my knees can strengthen as well. Thanks a lot for your rec, will check them out! (:
