Introducing our user-based support system!

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow Steemians!

Today we want to announce the inofficial support system made by users, for users. Steemit can be a big hurdle for many newcomers, as it can be very overwhelming and intimidating.

These users tend to go the chat at first to seek help, and you usually see the same questions asked over the day. We want to tackle this issue and therefore are working on a dedicated group of knowledgeable users that help them out in the chat and a third-party ticket system, as you may be accustomed to.

How does it work?

Since this system is not affiliated with Steemit our possibilities are limited for now. This means that we are not able to help you with anything that requires sensible details, password recovery or deletion and editing of content.
For now we will be able to answer questions about the use of Steemit and help users as best as possible. This is not yet ideal, but we are still WIP.

We will also post guides and build a word dictionary for commonly used terms and technical terms. Our focus yet is the real-time help and having a go-to helper.

How to reach us

For the start, this account will be active in the chat channels of #help and #general. Furthermore we will make a ticket system available in the next few weeks for problems that require more attention.

We can also be contacted per direct message or at [email protected] if we are for some reason not available at the moment.

SteemIt Chat

You want to help?

In the upcoming weeks we will keep you tuned on the status of the project and how to join as a helper if you are interested. We are glad for every additional little support we can get and are building a reward system for our more dedicated helpers. We also need well written quality guides before we can use our own guide system and dictionary.

We see you soon in the chat and thanks for reading!
Expect further updates in the coming days!

Thank you so very much for your hard work, dedication to a healthy and sustainable platform and for sharing these news/updates with us. Giving exposure to your initiative will help us all on the long run, thank a lot. Here's a bunch of tokens of gratitude for all you are doing for us here on Steemit.com

Namaste :)

Thanks alot for supporting the project! :)

Good initiative @userhelp!

Let's hope it works as much as we hope it does :)

We think a formal and proper way to treat new people on this platform will help us all in the long-term. Thanks for the support!

yes, exactly. I am thinking of building a helper chatbot as well...

If you want to collaborate feel free to hit us up in the chat :)

@steemitqa again.... ! nice :)

Great idea! Will this provide different content than what has already been added to the steem wiki? It would seem like a waste of energy if it simply duplicates what already exists. In that case I would recommend simply spreading the word about the wiki. If it is something unique, then FANTASTIC!

We weren't aware that there is a wiki poject running. We will look into it, and if we are satistified with the quantity and quality of their work we wil ltry to spread it instead of making our own :)

I'm actually surprised how few people know about the wiki. That's one of the major issues I see with this platform; there is no central place to get information. Everything is kind of scattered around and without a great search engine, it is not easy for people to find information. At least with the wiki, it is a community project and central, but there are no permanent links to it from the main interface.

Perfect timing. As a new Steemian I have spent most of my morning watching the live broadcast from Steemfest which was quite rewarding in of itself for me. To know we have a group of real people working and helping real people sets me more at ease.

The rest of this morning I've been in the Steemit search box trying to find answers to what most probably think are easy questions that everyone already knows. Not me. Am struggling with the learning curve everyday on here.

What keeps me going is meeting some of the incredible people here, the knowledge they hold and their willingness to share their time to help others. Thank you and your team @userhelp I look forward to broadening my knowledge base. Resteeming for other new users in the future.

Thank you alot for your support!
Feel free to visit us in the chat, we are glad to help you out in the future! :)

Thank you and am assured I will be taking you up on your invite. The more I learn the better I can help others learn too. ;)

Hey,

Good initiative which I witnessed in action in the chat.
It made my nipples believe it was winter for a moment.

All the best to you guy(s).
This does represent community.
Only question is, will this have a bot?
A human would struggle with the workload.
Specially if the service becomes heavily used.
A bot as the first contact, and if the issue is complex..
Escalate that to a human who may provide more depth.

I came across a post from user @stellabelle about a chat bot.
The help concept and the chat bot merged does make sense.

this is the exact purpose i was thinking of building a chatbot for....

Lol like this just fell out of the skies. What a coincidence.

We are pleased to please your nipples :P

Thanks alot for the supportive words!
Yeah, we will have problems with workload, but it is very unlikely that we will employ a bot.
New users want to know that they are talking to a real user, ane we are glad when we can help and give some encouraging words on the way.
If the workload becomes unbearable and we are not able to find helpers, we may have to look into this though.

Haha! No worries good luck!

A bot would be interesting approach. Something to think about!

Hey , how are you ?
welcome to steemit @userhelp
following you now.
