This is Tschoartschi from Austria - Programmer, Kitesurfer, Mountainbiker, Skier and much more ;-)

Hello steemit community!

I'm happy to introduce myself to the community. I found steemit during my research about cryptocurrencies and I really like the idea and motivation behind this project. I liked it so much that I decided to participate on my own :-) right now I'm quite alone on this platform but I'm sure I'll get to know interesting people here. One of my biggest passion is traveling this is why at first I want to introduce my home country from a travel perspective.

I life in Austria which is a small but very beautiful country. I really encourage you to come and visit our country. It is in the middle of the Alps but we don't only have big mountains and snow. There are also nice lakes, good food and wine, a lot of culture, interesting cities and much more. The capital Vienna is well known and always worth a travel. I don't want to talk too much about Vienna because I didn't live there and I'm also only a tourist there.

I was born in Graz and I lived there until my 27th birthday. The city is located in the south of Austria. Due to it's geographic location the weather is often better than in the north of Austria. Also it is close to the Styrian Wine region which is very famous for it's great white wines. Because of  the many Universities in Graz it is a very vivid city. There are a lot of cool bars, cafes and restaurants. Also there are nice possibilities to go out at night. If you are into Drum and Bass, make sure to visit the strictly.beats clubbing.

Some impressions about Graz

Right now I live and work in Linz which is the third biggest city in Austria. It is located at the Danube river and famous for it's big industry. But reducing Linz only to it's industry wouldn't be fair. The city offers a lot. There are very nice museums like the Ars Electronica or Lentos, good restaurants, a lot of events and many more things. I really enjoy living here because I live together with my girlfriend in a beautiful apartment very close to the Danube. We even have a beach infront of our house. Also there are nice hills surrounding the city. This makes mountainbiking a pleasure because I can start riding directly from my apartment.

Some impressions about Linz

This brings me to my second passion; sports! Since Austria has a lot of mountains it's a perfect place for doing outdoor sports. For mountainbiking my favorite spots are Bike Republic Sölden, Saalbach Hinterglemm, Petzen Flow Country Trail, Schöckl and my home trails around Linz (Oberbairing, Pfenningberg and GIS). For going cross country I can highly recommend trails in the area of the Salzkammergut. There are many lakes surrounded by mountains which makes the Salzkammergut  one of the most impressive regions in Austria. You should definitely check this area out when you are in Austria.

The Salzkammergut is also a great place for kitesurfing. Which is one of my favorite sports. One very gorgeous spot is Traunsee. Although the winds are light it's an awesome place. The best winds for kitesurfing you will definitely catch at Neusiedler See. This lake is close to Vienna and located in the wine are of Burgenland which is very famous for it's great red wines. Make sure to try some. Another good place for kitesurfing is Lipno Lake. It's not directly in Austria but it is very close. Only about 45min drive from Linz. The winds tend to be gusty but there are is plenty of space on the water and food and beer is also very good there. I can highly recommend a grilled brown trout fish and the original Czech Budvar beer.

When I comes to winter sport we have endless possibilities in Austria. I don't want to go into too much details but share some of my tips with you. If you are into backcountry skiing a great insider tip is Krippenstein. It offers a lot of skiing possibilities and also very impressive views and nature. For on-piste skiers I can recommend Kreischberg. This ski resort has nice slopes and most of the time good weather since it gets the weather from the south of the Alps. It's not too crowed and also there is no excessive Apres Ski with a lot of drunken people. One of the most famous places for skiing is Arlberg - and this is for a reason. You can do backcountry skiing and on-piste skiing, both with endless possibilities. Arlberg is a huge skiing resort and it's always impressive when you come there. Even for me as Austrian. The mountains, the snow (it is one of the regions with the most snow in the Alps) and the vast amount of ski lifts. If you are concerned about prices it's better to stay on the north of Arlberg and stay in Lechtal. There are nice hotels and farms in Steeg, Holzgau and further east in the valley which offer reasonable prices. From Warth/Schröcken there is a connection lift to Lech.

Besides traveling and sport I love coding. I created my first website back in 2003. It was a project for a friend of mine. He played in a rock band and they needed a website. This dragged me into programming and 2007 I decided to study computer science at the Technical University of Graz. During my time at University I worked as freelance software developer mainly in the field of websites and web apps. 2014 I graduated with a master's degree and since then I work as the lead web developer at Roomle in Linz. I'm always interested to learn new stuff this is why I attend our local meetups in Linz as often as possible. We have a great programming community with meetups like for example Technologieplauscherl, StahlstadtJS  or even a big conference called ScriptConf. Also I reach out on the internet to gather knowledge, so if there are programmers on steemit which want to get in touch with me, just let me know.

I will use steemit mainly to share my experiences about traveling, sports and programming. I will try to provide you useful tips and tricks which you won't find in a travel guide. Especially if you combine sports and travel the requirement and needs are very different to a regular traveler. For example I can write about kitesurf trips to Brazil, Spain, Sri Lanka, Greece, Sardegna, South Africa, Croatia and many more. Also I can provide mountain bikers with useful information or skiers with information about heli-skiing in Aosta Valley, backcountry skiing in Austria or on-piste skiing. Just let me know which topics would be most interesting to you.

I hope to find a good start into the steemit community
