A Steeming Introduction - Shahar Larry

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Hello.
My name is Shahar larry.

I’m happy to join the Steemit community. I first heard of it a few months ago and then again when I met, a diehard, uber-talented, and just-the-right-amount of weird, steemit enthusiast and evangelist - Ilana Brudo (@techslut).

A bit about me
I like words and I like writing.
I have been writing my entire life and have published my writing on various platforms.
Stuff that I find interesting:
innovation, collaboration, disruption, surprising solutions, cross-industry innovation, exponential organizations, problem solving, creative thinking, patterns, storytelling, emotional drivers, inventing, creating, listening, humility, fearlessness,
being a bit naïve, asking questions, focusing on creating value instead on capturing it, individual social responsibility. This list is a work in progress.

I enjoy speaking about disruption, innovation, storytelling and strategy and try to do so in front of various audiences as much as I can. I recently (2016) had the pleasure of giving a TEDx talk about Disruption’s Call for Action.

Some history

  • Acedemia 1:
    • I did my B.Sc. at the Tel Aviv University.
    • I started a dual mathematics and physics degree , only to discover 5 courses shy from a math degree that I am not a good enough mathematician. I changed and earned a B.Sc. in physics & philosophy.
    • I enrolled as a graduate student of philosophy at the Tel Aviv University. I was again seduced by another interest and left, 2 courses shy from an M.A. :)
  • Work 1:
    • That other interest was a job as an innovation consultant (2005) - which took me all over the world and gave me the opportunity to work with some of the biggest companies in the world on their innovation strategies, new products and service development and complex problem solving. I gained a lot of experience in creative thinking processes and methodologies, facilitation, consulting and corporate innovation.
    • After 3 years as an employee, I left the fold of the consulting firm (became a freelance - mostly working for them) to start my own business. My work split between working as an innovation expert for the large multinationals and working as a storytelling specialist for Israeli startups.
    • In 2010 I moved with my family to France as an MBA candidate at INSEAD. I earned my MBA in 2011.
  • Work 2: I started a tech company while at INSEAD - it failed.
  • Work 3:
    • We came back to Israel in 2012. Throughout those years I kept working as a freelance innovation expert.
    • In 2015 I opened my current company: Tinker - Manage Disruption. That’s a whole other story - I’ll share about it later.
  • Work 4: Today I work at Tinker. Our purpose is to help realize high-impact innovation potential - mostly through collaborative technologies.
  • Work 4.5: I am working on a new innovation platform called TINC - More about it later.
  • My experience includes:
    • Many years of writing, copywriting, microcopy, editing, translating and such
    • International experience in leading strategic innovation and creative thinking projects (new business model development, innovation strategy design and implementation, problem solving, new product/service development, strategy and marketing) with leading multinationals.
    • Being an entrepreneur (set-up and led 4 companies), mentor in accelerators, designed and led incubator programs and in general well versed in the Israeli and international startup ecosystem in many a field including Fintech, IoT, Services, Consumer Product, Additive Manufacturing, Pharma, Medical devices, Teleco and more.

Other things about me

  • I volunteer at NOVA – an NGO providing consulting services to other NGOs in Israel.
  • I like animals.
