How Fair is STEEM? Will Steem Change Our Life?

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hello STEEM World

Im Ramina 29 years old living in Sari North of Iran, I'm a carpenter but unemployed at the moment don't judge me, I love to work but I'm suffering from a disease which I don't wanna talk about it because it's already has influenced on my life. My daily life was staying all days at home and reading, writting, playing PS3 and some times try to make stop motion until I find Steem. I always used to be busy with hard working, but in last 2 years I couldn't move that much and it made me a bit depressed.

I love travling and I used to travel a lot, volleyball is my top sport which I played a lot.
During the last few months I've been stuck with reading about crypto currencies and blockchain technology.
Just last week a friend told me that there is a new social network platform called STEEMIT and it's changed many people's life and it'll change traditional social media styl, "if you publish some valuable content and others find your content valuable and vote to the post, then you get paid" he said.

I start on steemit and I wanted to post some thing on steemit but I thought it should be a valuable content not just some random post, it doesn't make sense if you get rewards for reposting something that already exist on internet, it shouldn't work like that, then I start to reading about steem to understand the system. more studying about Steem leads me to love it more. Then I decided to translate this brilliant idea's document to Persian and help more people to get in to. it's quite difficult to translate such a specialized text, 44 pages. However it worth because first I'm learning new things and after all it's a good way to prove the Steem plan. pay out for proved work. I'll finish the translation in next few days and then we'll see how fair is Steem.

- One of my question or objection is; if a group of people make some dirty circle and just start vote each other without considering how valuable is their content! then people who are out of this circle or even Steem community don't enthusiasm to contribute to the system and it makes the Steem's Value goes down and at the end there are few thousand Steemers left who are vote each other. I think we have to be careful with this. Please let me know if I'm wrong.
However, I'm not sure if steem will change economic situation of all of us and we all know money is half of rewards that we can get on steem and I don't wanna look at the half empty of glass, because it's already changed my daily life and I'm happy to be here and learning more and more from steemers. That's the half FULL of Glass

Love and peace

Welcome to Steemit buddy and hope to see you contributing more and get rewarded for doing it. You raised a legitimate concern of people forming a pack and upvoting each other so large portion of the earning stay within the circle. Hope someone with a good insight can comment on this.

Welcome Ramina. To give you and raj23 my thoughts on your concerns: It would not serve the success of the planform if people just up voted each other. Sure there are members who are not looking out for the community and would attempt to do this. They are kept in check by bots and other security measures, but the biggest policers of such negative activity is the vast majority on the community who have invested time, money and hope in such a revolutionary and potentially life changing platform. People generally are honest, and smart enough to tolerate activity that would inevitably lead to failure or the rise of a competitive platform this is more honest and equitable. This is a great platform and the vast majority of us want to contribute to its success which will benefit us as a whole.

Welcome to Steemit Ramina and the great looking Qiuso, sending you all the luck for your future

Unfortunately, there is no way to stop "clubs" from forming that will upvote each other. In fact, the use of categories to filter which posts you want to look at could be considered a form of club. For example, I love dogs, all dogs, so I tend to look at post made in the dogs category and upvote as many of them as I can.

Since Steemit is fairly young, there really aren't that many people in here yet. As the numbers grow, you will see better results with more votes being spread around to more people. Eventually, I think we will also see bots developed that will target and down posts that are exclusively for "clubs". Just as we are seeing the first bots that target potential plagiarized content.

There will always be a small group of whales who can set a post on fire and the followers that will jump on any post upvoted by whales, but that is the nature of the game. And is what keeps a lot of us posting, hoping for a big hit.

You're right, posting and hoping for a big hit. ;)
But I've got an idea, I'll share it with you guys soon
