Who is baden powell?

Robert Stephenson Smith Baden-Powell,
Was an actor, painter, musician, military, sculptor and British writer. Founder of the World Scout Movement, he participated in several military campaigns in Africa, in which he stood out and gained great popularity among the British population, especially for his heroic leadership in the defense of Mafeking. After returning to his native island, the publications of his books multiplied and he became, thus, an outstanding author in the matter of education and youth formation. His ideas, embodied in Scouting for boys and other works, inspired groups of young British to form patrols, which began scouting in an informal way.

Following his resignation from the British army on the advice of King Edward VII, he devoted himself fully to the formation of the Scout movement. He participated in activities throughout the world, propagating and laying the foundations of modern scouting. He wrote a large number of books adapted to the needs of the movement and the different levels of participation of the Scouts, allowing them, throughout the world, to have the opportunity to learn through specialized texts for their age. After obtaining several awards and recognitions, he retired with his wife to Kenya, where he died. He was buried in Nyeri; His tomb has inscribed a message from Baden-Powell for all scouts in the world. "Try to leave this world better than you found it" which sums up one of the goals to achieve in young people through Scouting.
