Introducing Myself - Part 2 - My Everyday Carry/EDC (Or, a Peek Inside My Pockets)

I've always thought that knowing someone's EDC (Everyday Carry) was a great, unique way of getting to know them. What people carry in their pockets and on their person says an awful lot about them. Since I'm still in my "getting to know you" phase on steemit (my original introductory post is here), I thought some insight into my own EDC was the perfect follow up post. For those who aren't familiar with the concept of EDC, Wikipedia defines Everyday Carry as:

Everyday carry (EDC), or every day carry, refers to items that are carried on a consistent basis to assist in dealing with normal everyday needs of modern western society, including possible emergency situations.   Some of the most common EDC items are knives, flashlights, multitools, wallets, smartphones, notebooks, and pens. The type and quantity of such items may vary widely. While often distributed among pockets in everyday clothing, carry options are frequently expanded by the addition of clothing accessories like a fanny pack, purse, small day pack, bracelets, or even footwear like long boots or a vest with pockets.

Without further adieu, here's my personal EDC:

Name: Luke Livingston
Occupation: Founder/President of Baxter Brewing Co. (Lewiston, ME); co-founder of Saga Enterprises, LLC & Crypto Investor
Where can you find me: @baxterluke (on Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
My Everyday Carry: small, green Moleskine Notebook; uni-ball pen; Warby Parker sunglasses; Burt’s Bees chapstick; Flowfold wallet (a kick ass minimalist wear company based here in Maine); BeerME wallet bottle opener; Timex Weekender Watch; Gerber Paraframe Mini Knife; and Keysmart keychain

About Me: Again, lots more depth in my original intro post, but in short, I grew up in the Lewiston-Auburn, ME  community and decided to return home to Maine after attending Clark  University (’07) in Worcester, MA. Where I received a BA in  Communications & Culture and developed an obsession with craft beer  while brewing my own in my college dormitory. After losing my mother,  Barbara, to breast cancer in January 2009, I left my day job, and wrote  the business plan that would later become Baxter Brewing Company. I was  the first person in the craft brewing industry to be named one of Forbes  Magazines’ “30 Under 30” most influential entrepreneurs under 30 years  old (in 2012). And have since been named to a similar, “30 under 30”  list in All About Beer Magazine (2013) and MaineBiz Magazine’s “Next 20”  list of 20 people shaping the future of Maine’s economy (2012). I live  in South Portland, ME with my wife Chelsea, our son Everett, 2 cats and a puppy.

I am also the co-founder and principal in an eCommerce wholesale & private label startup, Saga Enterprises, LLC,  which is on track to do $350-400,000 in sales on the Amazon FBA platform this year (and launching a nationally-distributed makeup/beauty product in December).

A little more about my EDC: I love everything that my friends at Flowfold are doing. The wallet is the best, most durable I’ve ever had (their dog leashes and backpacks are awesome, too)! The bottle opener is awesome because it stores in my wallet. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been the only one with an opener handy. The KeySmart is a no-brainer for anyone who has to carry more than 3 or 4 keys. And  let’s see: the stickers on my Moleskine are the Baxter sticker; Red Stallion Media  (who does amazing work locally, including most of Baxter’s  videography); and Tsunami Tattoo (Portland, ME) and Surly Brewing from  Minneapolis on the back of the notebook.

One more fun fact: By definition,  I used to be a professional juggler. Circa 2000-2004, I had the Central Maine library/nursing home/elementary school/birthday party circuit on lock.

Just as a disclaimer: A couple of the links above I guess are technically affiliate links. I think they'd actually just get us both discounts on some really kick ass products. I wasn't compensated whatsoever by these manufacturers, nor asked by anyone to include any of these products in this or any future post. I just personally really believe in the stuff I write about. Hopefully that's okay - if such links make you uncomfortable, just visit the sites directly. I won't be offended! Thanks for reading and for your support!

Great to meet you @sagaluke. I like that you carry a Gerber Paraframe. I carry a Spyderco Para2.

I just looked up the Para2 - what a good looking little knife! That may be next on the list. The Gerber is the perfect size (I just need a small guy for everyday tasks - cutting boxes, rope, etc.) but got pretty dull pretty quick. May be time for an upgrade ;)

Yeah the Para2 is a bit on the bigger side. Spyderco recently put out the Para3 which is smaller but I haven't carried one yet. Could be better for every day carry. In my opinion, it's always time for a new knife--just because.

nice! I'm old-school, i like the swiss army knife haha~ guess Macgyver left a deep impression on me when I was a kid haha

Welcome @sagaluke aboard the steemit express. This is a great platform to express yourself just like any other social media outlet except this one pays its users for interacting with each other. Post good content and your rewards can be limitless but always stay true to yourself.
