Hayter Stanley William (born Stanley William Hayter, born December 27, 1901 London - intelligence May 4, 1988 Paris) - English painter, graphic artist and theorist. The founder of the Paris School of Modern Graphics Atelier 17 (Atelier 17).

Coming from a dynasty of artists, Hayter began his career in the oil industry and only then became one of the cutting-edge graphics of his time, continuously experimenting with texture, color and new techniques. He was one of the first surrealist artists, his innovation is associated with the area of ​​engraving. Heiter spent most of his life in Paris, where in 1926 he opened the famous experimental studio Atelier 17, in which artists from all different nationalities worked - Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Yves Tanguy. During the Second World War, the studio moved to New York, but in 1950 again settled in Paris.
