Hi Steemit, my name is Vincent! Here's my birthday introducemyself!
Hey guys!
The friend who introduced me to Steemit, @Winterbike (see his introduceyourself post here), made me realize I hadn’t properly introduced myself. I might as well do it since it happens to be my birthday today!
My name is Vincent and I’m a as-of-today-29-year-old male in Montreal, Canada. Yes, french is my native tongue, which would explain my sometimes basic grammatical mistakes. I have degrees in both kinesiology (studying human movement) and ergonomics (work analysis and optimisation). I can’t say I’ve had a hard life, far from there – but like many a child raised in an upper-middle class part of town, I lacked direction and focus. I lived my life all the way up to 24 years old, getting through university mostly because I felt like I had to, but I wasn’t really happy. I got rid of an unhappy relationship and started hanging with Winterbike more. Did you ever hear about Tim Ferriss’s rule of thumb, « You are the average of the 5 people you frequent the most? » Well, before being 24, my social circles were full of people that were okay with the status quo. After being single again, I had renewed interest in my chosen fields of study and far beyond – I started reading more, started meeting different people and expanding my worldview. In Eiji Yoshikawa’s novels of Miyamoto Mushashi, Mushashi has a realization as an adult that he knows nothing, and seeks to gain knowledge in all fields. This is something that I strive for : every passing day, try to be better than yesterday. Train, read, understand how the world works, and do good.
I also realized life sucks without a little bit of humor, and I do love taking silly pictures with statues wherever I go.
So I work both as a trainer in a crossfit-type gym and as an ergonomist. As you can guess from my chosen fields, I’m deeply interested with the biomechanical and physiological functionning of the human body, in movements of leisure as well as work. I’m also interested in human nutrition – so much that Winterbike and I opened a blog called Paléo Québec (in french) back in 2012, forcing us to keep current with the knowledge of nutrition and lifestyle, and work inside my « be better than yesterday » motto.
When you ask me to "hang in bars", this is what I understand
So most of my posts will be on the human body, nutrition, ergonomics, recipes for general health enthusiasts, and stories at the gym or at work. Right now I’m especially turned on by gymnastics strength training and mobility training, which are find are some of the best returns-on-investment regarding general health in the training spheres. Since I’m also a huge nerd, you might read some of my musings on video games, recent movies, books that I like, also perhaps ice hockey (you’re canadian or you’re not, eh?).
I’m also sharing my life with a wonderful girlfriend who will probably be the one filling my Steemit account with recipe ideas. She’s the one with formal experience with cooking school as well as in restaurants, and although she’s not working in the industry anymore, she still loves to get creative in the kitchen. Good for her, she chose a guy who’ll tuck away everything she makes and ask for more!
When people tell you "You don't want to know how sausage is made", don't listen to them. It's awesome.
It might occasionnally happen that I post pictures of my 9-year old cat, Bandit, who’s put on just a bit of pounds over the years but keeps a perpetual kitten face.
I can't ever say no to that face...
So that’s it! I’m pleased to meet you all and hope to become a useful and productive member of the Steem community for a long time.
See you around!
Vincent

Another fan of the martial arts! I wish Bruce Lee didn't leave us so soon. I would have loved his opinion on anything from MMA to Crossfit to nutrition...
