Introduction: Hello, History Lover And Man Of Many Interests Happy To Be Here
Greetings to you all, lovely steemians. My name is Ajumobi Taiwo and I reside in Lagos Nigeria. My username is @rabamaker. I have been on this platform for a month now and I have finally gotten myself to write my introduction post.
So, who am I? That's something I have been trying to figure out my whole life. But I have been a freelancer for the past few years rendering services ranging from explainer/animations videos creation, content writing, songwriting, doing voice-overs and self-publishing an e-book. I am a man of many interests and I fear I have been a dilettante.
I believe that we live in what will turn out to be a very important time in man's history. The internet is bringing change and it is happening very fast. If this were centuries ago, the internet would be God, search engines his prophet and blockchain an apostle sent into the world to spread the gospel of self-expression and financial liberation; to break barriers put before us by man made institutions and our own minds.
I am someone who is greatly influenced by the European Renaissance and how it changed the world. I think the internet is ushering in something greater than the renaissance. Our generation will not fully appreciate it like the generations yet to come.
There is something that has happened all through man's history. I call it the deification of solutions. When man encounters a problem, he fights and fights to conquer it. If the problem proves difficult to solve and persists for maybe, centuries, when it is finally solved, either the person who discovered that solution or the solution itself becomes a god--unquestionable. We are in the habit of changing solutions to problems by turning them into gods. For example, in most parts of the world and especially in certain strata of the society, it is blasphemy for a person to say they don't want to go to college if they are qualified and can afford it. The Renaissance period saw universities multiply
as a solution to the problem of lack of access to knowledge of that time. It was and still is a great achievement, but deification of university education is not. It is not a God that is all knowing infallible and unquestionable.
What about the world's banking system? A great achievement it is, but its deification also is a problem. Transactions don't happen fast enough on it. It favours the rich over the poor. Those who really need money cannot meet the conditions set to get loans. And governments use it as a way to control the masses. Blockchain technology, however, is challenging it. But there are people who are waiting to hear the voice of their exploitative god(the banking system) before they can accept the change. Everyday we keep hearing that the future of cryptocurrency is bleak while the ones who say so keep investing in it. Yet, transactions on blockchains are smoother than what the old banking system is holding on to.
Our institutions and systems were made for us, not us for them. Once we begin to serve them instead of them serving us, it is time they are challenged. The revolution that has begun now is inevitable. The internet was always going to change the way we perceive the world and how our political and financial systems operate. The protestant reformation was enhanced by the innovations in the printing press. The internet and blockchain technology is inevitably changing the way people see nationality, governments and money.
So, I am glad to be a part of this community and I want to say I plan to be here for a while. I am here to give and receive love.
