Introduce Yourself / Hello World

Hi guys, my name is Mark. I come from a Economics and Finance degree; but worked for many years in China in oil & gas sectors. (Not very much the investment side, more toward the construction part)

Hobby wise, love sports! familiar with all sorts of ballish games, lacross, rugby, soccer, hockey, you name it. And for the past couple of months, I've been really digging into prawn farming.

Hopped into crypto space in 2016, and bought some Ethereum, however selling them at 15$ because I needed the money for something else, perhaps also a little weak-hand.

Never been much of a writer in life, never even kept a diary, but this sense of community makes me thrilled about being apart of the group. Of course, the potential of making a bit of dosh is definitely a driving factor; but at the end of the day, why let facebook and that lot make the money by selling our information whilst we can perfectly build up our own decentralized information gateway, where info will be uncencored, un-manipulated and be here indefinitely(this depends on if the content we write in store within the blocks, will have to double-check on that).

Anyways, really looking forward to getting involved with the community further. And again, feels great to be here after waiting in the registration queue for 2 weeks.

p.s rescued a homeless puppy from the side of the road yesterday, he couldn't even open his eyes. Even though i've already adopted 2 stray dogs, just couldn't bear to leave him to die. Named him Destiny2018-7-6 上午9.18 拍摄的照片.jpg

Hello markdroplet! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

Welcome!

Prawn farming??? Cool! Will you be blogging about it? My cousin has shrimp farms in Indonesia. Always fascinates me whenever he posts up pictures in IG of his farms 😊

Cheers,

dude, i think you are the only human that left a comment here.
well, it's a huge market, and my friends and I are thinking about setting one up. it's quite interesting, not a lot of people are doing it right here in China

This is one of the reasons I greet newcomers on #introduceyourself, I do realize too many bots and repeat welcome messages, overwhelming I bet. Too many " join this discord " and blahblah 😂

A couple bots are good, as they do give good reminders like safetiness and whatnot, but yeah I hear you.

Good luck for the farm!

thanks man, much appreciated =p
