Hey I'm Josh; This year my goal is to publish my first book and hold a fine art exhibition.

"You're life looks unreal, I'm so jealous" or "You're so lucky, I wish I could do what you do."

These are two phrases that people frequently hurl at me. Yes, my life is unreal; No, I am not lucky.

I am 21 years of age, I am Australian, I am not a surfer (contrary to popular belief), I am an athlete, writer and photographer. I don't have a 'base', however, the last two places I've lived for any extended period of time were Hawaii and Sydney.

My motivation for writing, creating and taking photos.

There are two main ideas that I adopt on a daily basis, these ideas are often in the forefront of my mind and motivation for my actions. The first one; I never like to think of anything I wouldn’t want to come true. If a negative idea comes to my mind, I try to crush it immediately. I see no point in acknowledging or feeding the thought. After years of practicing this mental process, it's crazy how good you become at crushing any negative ideas as soon as they try to pop up. The second phrase, which I adore is “It’s the one percenters.” For me, this is putting in that extra little bit of effort whether it be your job, sport, art, helping someone or anything else you may do - it pays off. Additionally, it’s appreciating all the small events that occur throughout your day. The sum of these little moments are what make our days and lives so special and it’s why I value them with so much importance.

As a 21 year old, I travel a lot - it was my choice to stop university and be constantly on the move. It's a risk, but for me, 'following the norm' (Getting a degree > secure job > house > family etc etc.) isn't for me. I want to take every risk, every opportunity I can and I know that at some stage I'm going to fall on my feet somewhere, doing something I love. It's an unconventional way to go about life, especially because most the time, I have very little money. However, creating positive genuine relationships with other humans I believe is my best skill and when you truly want something in life, I believe the world and the right people will show up to help you get there.

The goal for me is to inspire other people to take a risk on themselves and actually go and do what they love. It bugs me, when people say to others 'welcome back to reality' after they've been on a holiday. Every day for me is reality, so if I can change the mindset of people to do something they love everyday or work towards it whilst enjoying the process, I'll be stoked.

What's my book about?

It will be filled with lots of small quotes and passages that will get you thinking differently. Whether you keep it on your coffee table, next to your bed or on your desk - you will be able to pick it up, turn to any page and hopefully you put it back down with a smile on your face. I want people to read it with an open mind, and attack life from that moment onwards with a new spark to make both theirs and others life better.

I love taking photos.

Photography is a huge passion of mine. My favourite thing to take photos of is sunrises and sunsets, anything in golden hour really. However, traditional landscapes aren't for me, I like having my friends or other people in my photos. When there is a human in the photo, it oozes emotion. It makes you want to be there too. I like capturing moments, so when you're looking at your screen, your cheeks pull up and a smile starts to slowly make its way from ear to ear. When I pair this with my writing, I find this the most powerful way I can transfer my thoughts and visions.
