Of Beginnings: A Place in This World

There will come an inevitable moment in every man’s life when he will ask a question of himself, and the answer to that question will determine who they struggle to become for the rest of your life. This is what we call a sense of identity, that at the end of the day, for each and every one of us, the most important aspect of existence is purpose, and a reason to be.
When I was just a boy, walking paisley and absentmindedly in the streets (not that my introverted persona was outgoing, mind you) most of the times I didn’t know where I was going, nor did I particularly want to know, but I always believed that I had a destination, that I was going to find light at the end of the tunnel. You see, I was predisposed to believe that I WAS going somewhere, that all of this, life and every second of every hour of every day, wasn’t just for nothing. I don't know who to thank for that mindset, but I do know that it helped me a lot when the question came knocking at my door, stripping every moment of peace and comfort.
It is a hazardous time, knowing not who you are or who you want to be, doubting your very reflection in the mirrors, and searching for a place in the world. After all, we all want to fit in.

Through rejecting the idea that our lives are unimportant, or worse, inconsequential, I thought about the mark that I would leave upon this world, and that was when I realized that I had a hell of a lot to do with the time given to me, and that I was never going to waste another day of the life so utterly unlikely in the infinity of the possibilities with which our world turns and expands.
I thought about all the things that came together to make my existence a possibility in this universe. I realized that I had to make this existence a blessing for the world, and not a curse.
I am not here to lecture you about your purpose in life, as I have never been a writer to inflict my opinions on those who would read my works, but I have always wanted to be heard. A lot of people fail to grasp the scale of what makes them who they are, of what bestows upon them the place they so desperately long for and desire. Sometimes, where we really need to go and who we need to become has been right under our nose all our life.

People often mistake wanting with longing.
In our lifetime, we covet a great many things, and may fantasize about taking on many roles and filling responsibilities, but what we really long for, deep in our hearts, is the thing that gives us life and fills us with love, hope, and purpose. It is the thing without which you will always feel empty.
You will of course try to fill the emptiness that aches deep at your soul with distractions and addictions of all kinds, but you eventually realize that nothing can make you whole again until you work up the courage to go through the trial and suffering of becoming who you were always meant to be. The courage to say that you will journey this punishing road, come hell or high water, to achieve the things you have truly wanted from the first place. This is our light, and our identity, and all the things we could ever want to have a time fulfilled and a life blessed.
For me, the love of words and how they dance in an eternal rhythm of beauty and coherence led me to realize that I need to write. I will always need to write. This is what I was born to do, and I will continue to share my writings to anyone who might be interested in them.
