I, Javier || Introduce Yourself

I don't know how to start this. I guess a good way to start this new journey is to talk about where I come from: Venezuela. A country in South America that has it all: desert, jungle, snow and volcano. It's no doubt a beautiful nation.

On January 7, 1996, in a city called Maracaibo, in western Venezuela, I was born, Javier Romero Alavarado. Son of an aviation soldier and a young hairdresser who practically had no place to live, but in his parents' house -and with a son a year older than me in his arms-. Maracaibo is known as "La tierra del sol amada" ("The land of the sun beloved"), because in no other city of Venezuela does it feel a warmth like it. Sunlight is the companion of each of the people who leave early to work to continue building a country that today seems lost.

For 20 years, Venezuela has been subjected to a dictatorial government. In the first instance, Hugo Chávez was the president of Venezuela, thus beginning one of the darkest eras for my country. Chávez took to Venezuela one of the political currents that has caused the most damage to the countries: socialism. Now, after the death of Comandante Chávez in 2014, the country is at the bottom of the abyss. Governed by the tyrant Nicolás Maduro -sucesor of Chávez-, Venezuela is today one of the poorest countries in the world.

After the arrival of the "Chavista" (followers of Chávez and Maduro) dictatorship in Venezuela (and with them death, hunger and poverty), millions of people decided to set off on their way to another country, searching for what once was their country of origin and that today they see so far to recover.

In my 22 years of life, I have only lived one type of government: the communist dictatorship. For that reason, together with my mother and my older brother, we decided to leave our beloved country, and to place in Panama all our confidence to be safe in this world, because that is something that is not assured in Venezuela. I decided at the moment to abandon my dream of being a respected sports journalist, although I know that at some point I will resume it, because "there is no evil that lasts a thousand years, no body that can endure it".

I made the decision to create this Steemit blog because I know it's a great tool to generate income, with which I can help my family that still lives in Venezuela, under that blanket of desolation that covers the country. I do not assure you that I will have the best material to read, or the topics that everyone wants. I will dedicate it to my passion. If one day it happens to me to write something about football, I will do it; If I want to write about politics, I will do it too; If I want to write about music, films, art, photography, or whatever, I will do it with all the possible love, to entertain them and obtain, in that way, the monetary aid so needed.

Hello javierromero! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. Here are 5 essential tips that will help facilitate your onboarding process:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of the 4 passwords and make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: You have the option to choose how to receive your post reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this will change over time. Check our post for more details.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Converting and powering up more Steem into Steem Power will enable you to have higher value on upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
