My weeding proposal at the movies

Hello, everyone. I want to greet the #Steemit community and introduce myself.

My name is Santiago Rodriguez, I´m from Bogotá (Colombia), 37 years old, currently married and living in Medellin (Colombia). It’s only been a few months since I have started researching and knowing about criptocurrency, and I´m very excited for my first post in #Steemit.

The best way to get to know me is trough one of my biggest passions: my motorcycle. I love adventure motorcycling, and Colombia with its Andes Mountains, the Oriental Plains, the Amazon, a bunch of rivers and a whole lot of unpaved roads, is a dream come true for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Adventure Motorcycling is one of the best ways to get to know locals and regions that normal tourists and locals don’t get the chance to visit, because of long distances and sometimes very difficult roads. I love talking to locals, getting to know them better.

Well this post is about a crazy weeding proposal. In March 2014, I wanted to propose to my girlfriend. We had been living together for 4 years. My girlfriend accompanied me to some of my “light” paved road motorcycle trips, but she wasn’t that enthusiastic about long hard motorcycle trips.

I searched Google for cool weeding proposals, and I found guys proposing in cinemas. It was a great idea, but a little complicated, because at the time we were living in Bogotá and my wife´s family lived in Medellin, over 200 miles away. My wife is very close to her whole family, so I knew that if I was going to pull it off, I had to get them onboard.

First, I had to invent an excuse, so that I could go to Medellin without my wife. I waited for a weekend when she had to work. Off course she complained that I was going to her home town without her. Then when I got to Medellin, I had to tell her whole family and ask for their cooperation in my little project. But most important of all, I needed their secrecy, so that none of them told my wife that I was going to propose.

Second, I had to film myself alone on my way back to Bogotá. Then when I got to Bogotá I negotiated with a Cinema, that they let me film scenes of me entering the cinema. After that, it was all editing.

Finally, I asked my wife´s best friend to take her to the movies, at a specific date, hour and movie. All of this took me about three weeks. Everyone cooperated. Everyone but my wife, who almost didn’t enter the theater, even though her best friend insisted very firmly. She had no idea.
