Dreams from science come true steemit
Hello Steemit, thank you for welcoming me into your blockchain tribe! I’m fairly new here, but I’ve been observing this blockchain for some time and having seen its potential, I’ve decided to move my blog here.
I believe that while the Steemit platform has its problems, the blockchain technology underlying it could hold a lot of potential for fixing serious issues within the scientific world. Over my first few posts I’m going to explain how and why, but, first things first.
Who I am?
I am Nguyen Huu Hien living Neurobonkers American AKA brain scanners. You may know me from my blog post "Meet Robin Hood of Science" that has spread in 2016.
I am a science blogger who has become a freelance journalist with a passion for fixing bad science and misinformation that is very popular in the press. I started blogging nearly ten years ago to remove false claims about neuroscience and psychology. Since then, my work has evolved, including broader sciences in publishers including Nature, New Scientist and the BBC but less rewarded than my old blog, which is one reason why I decided to start blogging here Steemit.
My blogging career began with the realization that a big reason many journalists in most newsrooms today are not having enough science time. Journalism has become the blind comeback of press releases and more. Moreover, a journalistic model that depends on page views does not generate incentives to accurately report news, it's the opposite.
Now I know this introduction is where I intend to convince you why I am worthy of your follow up here, but I am sick of blowing my own trumpet. Instead, I will just paste some nice things that people have been saying about blogging.
The New York Times has called my blog part of a "reaction to what is sometimes called pornography." Journalist and media chairman Paul Bradshaw described my posting a bad article as "the best part of the bad news I've ever seen." Dr. Ben Goldacre (my secret inspiration, author of Bad Science and Bad Pharma) said of the same article: "This great destruction will win some prizes ... Bravo." The authors of Pearson's psychology textbook have recommended my blog for "bad science reviews". Neuroscientist and blogger Neuroskeptic, a great inspiration for me, called my blog "always excellent," then they interviewed me about it here. Brain Science and the Early Intervention Project at the University of Southampton have proposed my work for "critical analysis of misinformation". My blog postings have been referenced and used by publishers such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Conversation, Upstart Business Journal, The LA Times, and the Faculty. study in the US
In the next few posts, I will explain how you can also have the same effect by using this platform as your tool. I have chosen the quotes above because they are from people I respect a lot, if you do not find out their work then you should check them.
Tomorrow, I will post the next in this four-part series, explaining how Steem works and why I think it has the potential to tackle deep issues in the way science communicates. I will release each new episode every day at 1pm EST (8AM EDT) in the next four days.
PART 1: I have a dream for science about the part
2: What is a step and why do I think it can be revolutionary?
PART 3: The Reasons Why The Demand for Science Saving Blog
PART 4: How to stop can be overcome science
I hope you let me follow up here even if you are not an ordinary person in science. If that is the case I am willing to bet I can change that, let this post read for beginners. If you share my passion for fixing science communications and debugging misleading information, say hello to your comments and post links to your favorite science blogs that are already there. I will start with great people at @SteemStem!
Do not let me down Steemit, I have high hopes for you.
You can also find me on Twitter and Facebook and sign up to receive weekly email updates on my posts.
Postscript: I would like to take this opportunity to thank Đinh quang lộc (@dinhquangloc), the scientist who introduced me to Steem. Daniel shares my goal of scientific data liberalization and the lead in this movement. Daniel was so kind to mention the impact of my blog in his recent research on this subject.
Full disclosure: I've done what seems to be a significant investment in Steem Power so I can help encourage and reward the best science content here and win curation prizes. body in the process. I will use some of these investments to promote this series but that is something I will not do in the future. I will advertise every post a few hours after it is released to provide you with the scientific manager who works hard at it a good blow to curation rewards. If it is gobbledegook for you, then check back here tomorrow as I will explain how all this works.
My favorite painting is a simple hope to come true with steemit.
