Greetings from an Introvert

Hello Steemians (insert casual wave here). My name is David Kalidas and I was introduced to Steemit by my girlfriend (soon to be wife) @adevaesparrago. #gigity

This is going to be a bit of a lengthy post (at least for me) so lend me your ears. Eyes rather. Eyes. Wow there it goes, that awkward transition of trying to interact “normally” with others. So hello again Steemit my name is David (wait I mentioned this already). Uhhhhh I like books. Argh. (No that’s not how you introduce yourself, get your shit together Dave!). Ok. Ok.

A bit of me.

I grew up in the Philippines, but was born in Zambia, Africa. My dad is Zambian (but with Indian blood?) and my mom is a Filipina so technically I ‘am an amalgamation of races.

I am currently employed at ThinkLogic, a BPO / media agency located in Cagayan De Oro and what I do for the company is I manage the creative department (me and my team design marketing material, handle the website etc etc), which is perfect because…I don’t get to interact with a lot of people, just me and a small team of nerds. Haha.

My team of nerds! Semi complete. Couple of my guys are on break and this was a mandatory goodbye selfie with the OJT's (On Job Trainees) i handled.

One Layer Deeper.

You could say I am more of a recluse. I prefer to keep to myself. Not fond of the whole "party" thing.

I’d chose a solo night at home to a “night out with the boys” any day! yeah fight me!!.. well don’t fight me..that’s going to be cumbersome. I am big and slow and sweaty..really sweaty. You’ll have to like wipe off the sweat from your fist each time it makes contact with my protective belly so yeah don’t. Please?

To be honest, I am not so fond of people (edgelord warning!!). I find sharing interests, thoughts and personal opinions with others quite…uncomfortable (or awkward?). Of course you guys are the exception. You seem like a cool bunch. wink. So this is me actually trying to break out of my nice little shell.

Ever since we migrated to the Philippines (been here for over 20 years now), I have never felt like “I belonged”. Way back in Zambia I remember being called names for being light skinned and thinking to myself, once we move to the Philippines, all this teasing will go away. No one will make fun of me anymore. But growing up in the Philippines was just as bad (yeah kids are mean). Now I get called names for being dark skinned. Eh, make up your mind people? How can I be both too dark and white at the same time?

This feeling of isolation has stuck with me ever since and probably is one of the major reasons for my introversion and misanthropy. But don’t worry; I am no pity case. This doesn’t bother me in anymore. In fact, I now find it quite beautiful being the odd one out and take pride with having all these different cultures coursing through my veins.

Speaking of culture, I think people in general have a hard time accepting a cultural diverse society because…uh never mind, maybe ill talk about this in a different post. (if you guys are interested that is).

What else…I love books (LOVECRAFT LOVECRAFT LOVECRAFT), music, cats and the occult (I find the darkness extremely appealing, don’t you? mumbo-jumbo is my kind of lingo).

Bonus section: Meet my boys.

Your royal highness, King Neptune - Guardian of books. He is a true survivor. I rescued him during an outreach (Typhoon Vinta) program.

And this little ball of darkness and doom is Midnight. I adopted him from one of my friends and has been been my little terror in the dark for the last 5 months.

I guess that’s about it for now (insert awkward goodbye wave here). I am planning to do book reviews, blog about life, music, art and stuff I find interesting. If you have any suggestions for me id greatly appreciate it.

I don’t know much about Steemit YET but I am excited to explore and learn more about this amazing platform.
