Hello, STEEMIT! I think this can be second part of my #introduceyiurself, because my town is really important for me. Today I want to tell about my place where I live. About amazing town Vilkovo. This town is also known as "The Ukrainian Venice". Why? I will write below.

The first settlers came here in 1746, fleeing from the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church. In those days in the territory of our time town was a Danube, Black sea and marshes. People of literally built a city on the water, increasing the ground right in the flooded areas. To adjust the water level were dug many channels through which water circulates today. Before 60 years of the last century, the boat was more popular than a car or other transport channels have been more convenient ways.

Sometimes, water level rises. A great flood was in Vilkovo in the seventies of the last century. Today there are small floods, but it is rare. :)

Because a large number of water and stay near the sea here is very humid climate and strong wind. In winter, the town turns into a huge piece of ice. Children ride on a strange sled, they make it out of old skates and a few boards)

Also, local boats are not usual. This adaptation for entering the Danube and the sea even in bad weather. it is very easy to get to the beach and is very manoeuvrable. Their prototype was the legendary Cossack seagulls, on them Cossacks made military campaigns.

Today most people earn money by fishing and tourism. Fishing is an important part of the history of Vilkovo. In Soviet times, then caught sturgeons incredible size.

1.5 ton! 350 kilograms of black caviar in a fish!

Now such a big fish are not present, because a large amount of fishing almost destroyed her. Now sturgeons bred in special fish farms.

Thank you for reading, I hope you were wondering)  For this article I came up with a new tag #introduceyourtown :D
