My Name Is Lamis & My Username Is a Little Decieving

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

I am a twenty-year-old girl, I speak three languages fluently (Arabic, English & French) and I hold a strong opinion about Icosahedrons being the most magnificent Platonic solids ever, followed by the Dodecahedrons.

Hello! Now that I have captured your attention (I hope) with that brief intoduction about myself, I would like to confess that I only chose this username after first finding out about Steemit from @Jerrybanfield. I got the impression, after watching his intoductory video on YouTube about Steemit, that the latter was about cryptocurrency and crypto-related things only and that one cannot thrive on it unless they were all about crypto, thus ofcourse, I inanely decided to become the @Cryptqueen

I do realize that the letter O is missing but I was denied adding it when registering and I thought there was an already existent Cryptoqueen; one who is not a novice like myself, hopefully (in my defense, I know quite more about the crypto-world than my peers where I come from)

So, upon completing the registration and during the waiting period, I continued  questing after truth about this website and I ran into @BrianTurner's videos which are incredibly motivating and that was when it dawned on me that you do not have to post about cryptocurrency and crypto news to earn on Steemit. That is the very moment I began regretting my username. Now I am stuck with it F O R E V E R. I wish I could change it to a Platonic solid name, they resonate so beautifully.

Anyway, that was the story behind my usename and how  changing it to 'Icosahedron' would make me feel good about myself.

Now, onto  facts about self:

  • Is an English Literature student which should convey that I am fond of reading.
  • Is a science nerd who gets a little too philosophical at times.
  • Cannot live without music.
  • Has a huge thing for Neil deGrasse Tyson--the greatest astrophysicist of this time (I felt compelled to include this in.)

  • Laughs at memes in spare time.
  • Takes humble photographs on her phone and wishes to oneday own a decent camera to fulfill her passion. Example:

  • Appreciates art so mightily.

  • Likes to talk about self in third person, obviously.
  • Can be a little funny sometimes.

I thought the list had to stop because I was starting to feel a little self-centered there. But again, this is an introduceyourself post and who else should this be centered around?

I am here for the long term and for this I have to embrace my username and treat it like my own son. I am going to be of great merit to the platform. I hope I would successfully inspire some of you. I will share everything I regard as valuable on here in order for this little community of ours to thrive.

Lastly, I would like  to apologize to every single person who followed me thinking I would report anything concerning cryptocurrency. I will not. However, stick around! Please? I have a lot to offer.

Hi Soft! Ok, first things first. I'm triangulating your languages, I'm visually placing you somewheres in North Africa, let's go with Morocco, c'est vrai?...apologies if this is wrong, but I'm a visual person and need to anchor myself :)

Next point, you are @cryptqueen and that lack of an "O" presents an interesting opportunity. I think you could easily parlay this moniker into a SteemIt persona dedicated entirely to ruling over the goings on among the decaying bodies laying in wait for their shot at Elysium. Merely a suggestion, but if you run with it, @danielshortell will be your biggest supporter ;)

And finally, happy to see people diving into SteemIt who have artistic ambitions that go beyond the technical origins of this great platform. For Steemit to be relevant/useful/adopted, it has to be more than a circle jerk about crypto. And don't get me wrong here, I absolutely adore cryptocurrencies, what they stand for and how the DLT tech will change the world. I'm @danielshortell, nice to meet you. I write fiction here on SteemIt and hope many more keyboard pluckers come here to do the same, growing the decentralized literary community :) Au Revoir!

@danielshortell you made my day :')
Never thought people would take the time to finish reading this or even bother to open it. I was losing hope at this point but you restored my faith.
You're right..almost. I'm from the country right next to Morocco--Algeria.
Also, Daniel, you just gained a new faithful follower. I will be checking your content. You keep making people's days with your heartfelt comments :)

Heehee, very nice! Ahh, Algeria was my first guess (I was reading Camus here recently), but something made me switch to Morocco. OK, well, have a nice day...
