Steemit Community!!
Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy day to read my first post!

I'm blessed through and through that I can be part of a bigger picture in life, which I believe is the Steemit community. In my first blog, I'd just briefly like to introduce myself to you all, hopefully in an effort to build better relationships with you all!

I'm no blogger at all, so I'm new to all this, but something inside of me urged me to contribute in a valuable way to our community. My wild and exciting journey started in Cape Town, South Africa. At age 13, I moved out of the house to the big city, Cape Town. I received my first swimming scholarship to a renowned traditional English school which had the best swimming layout in the country. I've always been involved in swimming, and somehow this wild and crazy grueling sport took over my life. At age 16, I knew I wanted to come to America in an effort to pursue my swimming career.

After high school, I committed to my swimming career and took a year off to train before I left everything behind and made the move to America. Age 17 I received a scholarship to a community college in Florida, where I went on to further my swimming career. I ended off my community college swimming career on a high, where I was humbled to break 8 National records and was also blessed to receive National Sports Man of the Year. After graduating from community college, I went on to compete against the best South Africa had to offer for a spot on the 2016 Rio Olympic team. This was where I hit my first roadblock in life. I was set to make the Olympic team in the 100m Breastroke and had the backing of my family, college teamates and many, many others. I felt a huge disappointment come upon me once I touched the wall...realizing that I placed 3rd, instead of 2nd, which would have earned me a spot on the team. I've grown immensely since then, realizing that nothing in life gets served to you on a silver platter.

I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to extend my collegiate swimming career. I've just finished my Junior year, and am proud to say that it was a great and successful year.

Touching on my interest in cryptocurrencies, a friend of mine, Joshua introduced me to Bitcoin in November 2016 and ever since then my interest in this field exploded and it took over a huge part of my life. I've done as much as I can to educate myself in this field as I've had no investment experience before. I have to thank a mentor of mine, Jerry Banfield, who I've followed since I've started investing. He has helped me along the way with his videos and he is the one who actually introduced me to the Steemit community, so thank you Jerry!!

I'm looking forward to getting to know as many of you as I can and doing my part to grow the Steemit community! !

Please leave a commenty if you have something to add, and please upvote this post if you'd like me to continue blogging!

Hey Craig, glad I found your profile. Great to see more South Africans on Steemit. Good luck for 2020!

Thank you! Gave you a follow :)

Nice post, crypto can change your life, but can also take a big part of your time...

Thank you! Not if you use effective strategies such as HODL

that is true. so you do not active look hour by hour. just select the right ones and check it each week?

I try and cover most strategies, i.e. long term and trading. I'll check my portfolio about twice a day.

Thank you for sharing your thought. And Thx again for your upvote yesterday. Maybe we meet in 2019 in us.

Question, please see my post.. Is this common in the us or south africa? or just Holland...
