Aspiring CEO, Barista By Day, Try-hard Writer at Night
That's my favourite mug at the shop.
Introducing Me!
I once dreamt of becoming an engineer. I went to a university and spent 4 years taking up Electronics and Communications Engineering. And I have not finished it.
Some say indecisiveness kills you. But, hey! I'm still alive. However, taking all great wisdom into consideration, it matters that one knows his passion to have all the determination and that decisiveness in all undertakings.
I worked for one of the world's largest banks, HSBC, started out as a retail ops associate, moved up the ladder by an inch for premier banking, then stepped up as a site administrator. Having the interest for computing technology, I shifted my career to working for an IT firm where I got exposed to digital marketing. I met great people, creative ones, and I saw their love for work. And there, I realized that I didn't want to become a hardcore engineer designing circuits and electronics, lay-outing communications infrastructure , or doing QA measures for automation systems. I fell in love with somewhat nearby field of study, Information Technology.
What I do Now
I am a coffee-lover myself and that's probably an acquired taste from when pulling an all-nighter in an engineering school became part of my life. So when my best buddy thought of putting up a coffeeshop, I did not hesitate to take part. We're now on our 2nd month of operation and things are going pretty well. While I make great coffee, I'm also hands on applying IT solutions for the business' needs.
Taking all the skill sets I learned from a retail banking and wealth management giant, the marketing strategies I learned, and the once engineering enthusiast in me, I know that I am more than just a barista and a coffeeshop co-owner. So for my continuing education, I'm set to enrol in an online university for an Information Technology and Digital Media Arts degree.
Aside from enjoying what I do now, I now have more time and resources to study and learn anything I wish to in my own time. It feels so great to learn new things not because the curriculum dictates you too, but because you want to. At the moment, I'm focused on developing a business model for my next enterprise. It's a little ambitious but life's for the taking. I once told myself that no one needs a professional license to be an engineer of one's life.
Truly, some find their dreams spot on at an early age. But I learned that if you are struggling to find your, you just need to stop for a while and look at those little things that make you happy, surround yourself with great people, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find your passion's kindling point.
P.S. In an effort to do blog and write meaningful posts, I decided to start writing about what I learn and share them here. Here's for a start, my thoughts about Steemit and what I know about it so far:
