An Introductory Post
I'm new to Steem and also to the world of blogging, so an introduction is in order. I am 32, married, poly, father of one. I used to be a proud Republican, but after seeing and experiencing the ramifications of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act , and the Affordable Care Act, I became more enlightened, and far more educated. The Left and Right are simply two sides of the same coin, all bent on control of the masses through nothing but fear.
10 years in medicine was an almost painful experience. I watched small practices get swallowed up by large corporate health firms, doctors retiring early rather than deal with the forced electronic medical records (EMR) mandate, and the cost of insurance skyrocket to the point that many practices simply walked away from insurance entirely. The largest insurance groups went from paying out astronomical reimbursements for the smallest procedures (think $800-1200 for a wart removal by laser) to barely reimbursing $50. Treatments that used to be medically necessary were labeled as cosmetic only overnight. Watching families who lost private health coverage and were forced onto state exchanges was heartbreaking, because many doctors simply refused to accept the state-run insurance plans. It didn't make any financial sense for them to.
The tax on device makers to subsidize the ACA saw some of the biggest names in medical device manufacturing fold into each other just to survive. Champions of industry and innovators were sidelined with dwindling profits and an even more obtrusive government, regulating them to death through taxes and and the hoops of the FDA. Of course, those who found out how to game this new system were vilified by the media and the leftists.
But enough ranting about what we already know. The system isn't broken, it's just rigged in favor of people who feel like only they can do the thinking. Hopefully this tiny corner of the internet grows into more than the catchy phrases of Statism is Slavery, Taxation is Theft, and Google:Voluntaryism.
wellcome
