Introduce yourself - Best Possible You - Everyday Personal Development

Best Possible You

Hello to all Steemians!

In this first post I just wanted to introduce myself, tell you why I'm here and have a try at putting together an interesting and good looking post.

I firstly have to admit that I'm a self-help addict. That fact is pertinent to my Steemit posts.

I got the bug and became one when I was 17 years old, just out of school and looking to find my career path. I got a day job and then started all sorts of night and weekend work. I tried my hand at selling double glazing, selling kitchen installations, multilevel marketing and mail order booksales.

I failed or had minor success at them all and at the time it felt devastating. Other guys and gals were doing well but I was a spotty kid with limited social experience and skills and my selling pitches probably weren't great.

But it didn't matter - at least I tried. I had the work ethic and was determined to be successful at something.

During my time at the multi level marketing company, my sponsor introduced me to a mail order book company called Thorsons and I started my book collection with the Classic Think and Grow Rich. I followed it up with The Power of Positive Thinking and then more and more.

I bought audio programmes and listened to them while travelling. Some were good, some were poor and some were just wacky.

I obviously got some goodness from them because I took action and studied and qualified as an Accountant.

Then I discovered Tony Robbins.

Tony gets a lot of stick because he has become very wealthy through his books and training but if you can get over that, he is well worth investigating.

I believe he is one of the best communicators alive today and his insights into people and why we do the things we do are actually very simple but accurate.

So I devoured his books and audios and it must have worked. I became a Director of a large company that employed 450 people. I might have done it anyway - we'll never know - but it can't have done any harm.

So now I'm 55 and thinking of doing less work and going into gradual retirement. I feel I have a lot of experience in personal development but I don't like it complicated.

Your Personal Growth Plan

Keep it simple.

At the heart there are only 4 steps:

1 Decide what you want
2 Take action
3 Notice what results you are getting
4 Modify your action or redefine your goal.

That's it, nothing more.

My Steemit Plan

So I'm going to write on Steemit about simple steps you can take to become the best possible you. A you defined by YOU, and not the media or other people.

If that's your thing, please follow me and you'll get to see what I write.

If you like it, use it. If not just ditch it. I won't be offended. Everybody is different and there is no "one size fits all."

On a personal front, I live in the UK and have been married to my lovely wife for 35 years this year. I have two grown up sons aged 29 and 21 and the youngest has Down's Syndrome.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave a comment.
