Hi there, Steemit! My introduction to this awesome platform

Hello everyone! I’m very new at this community (I started today) and would like to introduce myself in this post. Steemit looks really awesome so far! Here is my very awkward introduction selfie:

About me :)

My name is Alieke Maljaars, 24 years old, and I am an industrial/UX designer and one of the millions of amateur photographers around. I live in the Netherlands, a pretty cool and tiny country in Europe.
In 2011, I started studying industrial design engineering, and I graduated from university just a few months back. So now I am trying my very best to find a nice and rewarding job in design. While originally being an interaction designer for products, I am trying my luck in the digital UX design field. We’ll see how that works out!

As a part of my study, I spent a semester in Norway, which was really awesome. I mean, they had real snow over there ;). It was just amazing. Just look at the picture below. Snow everywhere!

Photography

As mentioned before, photography is my hobby and creative outlet. Therefore, I will not post as much about my job and design, which I like, but rather about photography, which I love. As a photographer, I personally prefer to photograph portraits and people in general. I do like to get a bit creative and conceptual in my photography, but since that is something I am just starting out with, I do not have a lot experience with that, and very little examples. Perhaps discovering and photographing creative portraits will be my ‘thing’ on Steemit!

Besides my photography hobby, I like to cook and bake, and to draw, read, write and do other creative things. Indeed, I like to do lots of things. However, the only hobby that I am actually good at is photography, so I will mostly just stick with that ;) . You can imagine my happiness when photography happened to be one of the most discussed topics on this platform. Yay!

Here are two examples of my latest photography attempts.

A glitter/christmas portrait

A surreal fall portrait

Both are very different. The first one being very darkand glittery, the second one being more surreal and dreamy. I really like both styles and I like to explore new types of styles, so I expect to make many more different portraits and other pictures in the future.

Photoshop

As much as I like to photography people and other pretty things, I do like editing my pictures as well. I learned photoshop before I learned photography! Editing pictures and create graphic designs is therefore one of my other businesses. My boyfriend and I have a graphic design business next to my other activities. I create logo’s, flyers and websites. Maybe I will share some of that content on Steemit as well, who knows!

Anyway, stay tuned for photography and Photoshop/Lightroom tutorials! I am planning to do some of those here in the future :). Provided that anyone is interested in that, of course. Let me know!
