My name is Dan Shachar, based in Southern France, where I
blog from about heritage, both cultural and natural. The region I live in
(Occitanie) is blessed with rich history and wildlife and the breathtaking
Pyrenees mountains are ever at the backdrop.

I am going to post about the various distinct historical episodes unique to Occitanie. The content will be visual (photos and videos) as I explore the ruins of Knights Templar commanderies, fortresses embroiled in the Albigensian Crusade, or the remarkable Southern French Gothic architecture particular to this region.

The sites of Southern France rest in a gorgeous landscape and I will blog about its ecological niches and the animals that dwell in them. Occitanie has conservation programs for brown bears, wolves and vultures and outdoors excursions end up with encounters with diverse
wildlife.
