Working principle of dc machine-
Based on electromachanical energy conversion principle
The basic concept is when a current carrying conductor placed in magnetic field.It experiences a force which tense to move it i.e.the electrical energy is converted into machanical energy.In case of generator if an extarnali applied force makes the conductor to move in the magnetic field the current stats to flow in conductor. i.e. machanical energy in converted into electrical energy

These motor are used where large load is connected and momentary tork is required.
