· Andrés Moreno ·

In the broad world of entrepreneurship, the most important thing to keep in mind is to believe in yourself and in your own dreams, thus establishing your goals, whether they are long, medium or short term, something that will fill you with full satisfaction. personal, professional and even serve to inspire others. However, we must know that good ideas have a perfect time to develop and become a reality, that is why it is not enough to imagine, but also to know what is the precise moment to start undertaking what you so desire.

On this occasion we had the pleasant opportunity to interview a Venezuelan who knew how to start from a great idea, and today has become one of the most successful entrepreneurs worldwide, we speak of Andrés Moreno. He is the founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Open English, the leading online English language school, his career as an entrepreneur began in Venezuela, his country of origin, while studying Engineering and Systems at Simón Bolívar University from Caracas and was co-founder of Optimal English, a company that provided training and training in this language to Latin American executives of multinational companies, from the ranking of the 500 companies of the prestigious Fortune Magazine, such as Procter & Gamble, Sun Microsystems and Cargill. In 2005, Moreno left the traditional English teaching company and partnered with Wilmer Sarmiento, his friend and classmate, to design a different online English course, that's how it all started.

We know that for Andrés Moreno the languages have always represented his true passion, that is why we wanted to know how everything began and delve into the first steps of this great entrepreneur.

Where did your passion for languages come from?
"My father worked with international organizations, which made the whole family travel through the many countries where he was assigned. During that time I realized how important it was to master a second language, and especially English, which was and still is, the fundamental language for trade, diplomacy, finance, and in general to be able to communicate when you are far away from your country. If you speak English you have an enormous amount of opportunities to develop and grow. "

How does Andrés Moreno encourage and maintain creativity in each of the well-known advertising spots to promote studies in Open English? "Open English advertising has always been characterized by a particular sense of humor. A very Latin humor. From this "tone", if you want to call it that, we recreate situations of daily life in which almost all of us have been involved at some point in our lives. And that's where the creativity comes in ... find that funny moment when we sing songs in English, or when we have an interview in English and "skate" in some things .... It's a bit: "we are like you and we understand what you are going through". That's why we use humor to connect better with people. The idea is that one must learn to laugh at oneself, and at the same time, find a way to improve oneself, without complexes. This is valid in English and in any circumstance of life. "

How does Andrés Moreno continue to be successful in the different projects he decides to risk? "I absolutely believe in a great combination: a good idea, perseverance and a lot of passion. That's the formula I used with Open English, when nobody believed in online education, and less in investing in a Latin American country, and is the one I'm using now in my new project, Next University. NextU, which is the short name, is an online university that offers certificates in high technology areas. The secret in both projects is the same: detect an area of need and offer a practical, fast and economic solution. If your offer is good and you believe in it, you will necessarily succeed. "

Being one of the most successful Venezuelan businessmen internationally, what inspired you in a personal way to be what you are today? "I was personally inspired by the certainty that I had a great idea in my hands. I was studying Engineering and Systems at the Simón Bolívar University of Caracas; I went with excellent grades, but I knew that good ideas have a perfect time to develop and become a reality. Afterwards it's already late. This was the moment of my idea and that's why I dedicated 100% to her and you see the results! Success comes to those who know how to identify the moment of their idea and focus on it without looking back ".

How do you define yourself? "I am a very firm person of purpose. I believe in my intuition and my best attribute is that I know how to surround myself with the people who can implement dreams, no matter how ambitious they are. I believe in the team. It satisfies me to see how ideas become real projects that impact many people, because they open up possibilities that previously did not exist ".

Without falling into the political sphere, in what way does Andrés Moreno try to influence through Open English and the conferences he makes through the Summit of Success, to society in general? "The control that the individual person has over the great events of history is sometimes small, or at least limited. The only thing a person can control 100% is how much they learn, how much they produce, how independent they can be, and how much a quality of life can be guaranteed. That's why my message is: get ready, become more productive, be as independent as possible, so that your future is determined by you. You are the undisputed owner of your competitions. "

Do you think that creativity is part of a successful venture? Why?
"Yes, I think you have to be creative to have a successful venture, because in the first place, you have to find a real problem that needs a solution and then develop it in a way that is the real solution to the problem.

If you are not creative you could focus on problems that are not such, or that already have a solution, or try to implement solutions that are not new and have failed in the past, or simply, do not see the problems or opportunities. The Latin is by definition creative. I propose to use that creativity to be successful in business. Currently there are many ventures in Latin America that are being successful and even reach the international market. The global investor is well aware of the potential that Latin America has in the area of entrepreneurship and only expects evidence of the strength of the projects. This is a stellar moment for entrepreneurship in Latin America. "

Due to his great experience and trajectory, what is the message that Andres Moreno gives to young people, especially to Venezuelans who would like to undertake in the business world? Do you still believe that the Venezuelan still has much to give? "The Venezuelan is talented and creative by nature. That has not changed and it will never change. Maybe he lacks some discipline to turn those blessings into a successful business, but with the right guidance he can achieve whatever goal he sets out to achieve. "

Entrepreneurship is a combination of a good idea, perseverance and passion for what you do, this is how Andrés Moreno describes each of his successes on a personal and professional level, demonstrating that no dream is impossible if you set out to make it a reality. We conclude this pleasant interview with a phrase of great entrepreneur, "Talent is an important part of the road to success, but much more than talent, discipline, perseverance, patience and passion matter. Work these conditions, one day at a time, and when you least expect it, you will have achieved your personal and professional fulfillment. Believe in your dream and fight for it. "
