THE INTERNET UP TO 330 MILLION DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATIONS
Around 1.3 million domain name registrations were added to the world wide web in the first quarter of this year, which equates to the growth rate of 0.4% over the previous quarter, according to the Verisign, a global leader in domain names and internet security.
This brings the total number of domain registrations to around 330.6 million, across all top- level domains as of March 31. Domain name registrations have grown by 11.8 million, or 3.7%, year over year. There were 9.5 million .com and .net domain name registrations in the first quarter of this year. In comparison, in the first quarter of last year, the figure was 10 million.
