This is my first post on here and I'm not too sure of the process.  I hope it goes OK...

Exploring Asian Culture Through Interior Design

The window to a region’s culture is through people's homes. They reflect the essential things that a certain culture hold dear and the distinct elements that they gravitate to. However, the diversity of the Asian region doesn't only require you to be educated in one specific culture if you have decided to learn and familiarize yourself with it, instead it opens your horizon to several varying cultures that can stand alone with their individual beauty and capacity for greatness. The combination of these cultures can provide you with the most colorful and lively interior design style. Nevertheless, this idea of combining elements can be quite difficult because certain rules must be obeyed. Given the proper venue and a huge amount of open-mindedness and adventurism, you can successfully execute an Asian interior design style that is both honest with their origins and well-adjusted to foreign standards and preferences.

Asian interior design sprung from several cultures of the east including Japan, China and Thailand. These countries share religions and beliefs yet they also have dissimilar norms and ideals. In order to capture an authentic Asian design style in your home, you must select one of these cultures as inspiration for your design. If you opt for a simple and laid back ambiance for your living room, then perhaps the Japanese style will be well-suited for you. It has quite a straightforward approach in designing and this is evident in the strong solid lines of their architecture and interior structures. The use of shoji screens with horizontal and vertical lines intermingling with each other is a perfect example of the austerity of Japanese interior design. This style is involved with the communion of nature and man, balance between these two elements are always sought out. Japanese houses have indoor gardens with water features to welcome the outdoor elements indoors. The Chinese style of interior design possesses very vivid opposition to the Japanese style. Whereas, Japanese style is simple and uses subdued and earthy colors, Chinese style is elaborate and is contented only with bold and striking colors. It makes use of the color red quite liberally all throughout the interiors because Chinese people believe in the abundance and the good luck that red provides. The interior details such as the furniture pieces, doors, walls and accessories are made up of intricate carvings, moldings and gildings that characterize the Chinese culture.

Combining Cultural Elements
The richness and variety of Asian interior design depicts its strength and marvelous qualities. You could choose a single aspect of it and be truly satisfied with its cultural vividness. You could also combine the elements as accent pieces in the subdued background of your contemporary home and be amazed at the amazing end result. Asian interior design allows you to delve into its colorful culture by adapting some of its distinct characteristics and making them your own.
