Integrity of Information in Extinction
Reporting was supposed to be unbiasedly showing the facts based on reliable sources. Today the newsroom became the gossip room. Since everyone has a platform the speculation or gossip doesn’t happen behind your back but right in front of you. Even those with a “title” fall into this trap as well as their followers.
It is really difficult, to prevent when the most popular media watched is biased. News channels like CNN, Fox, NBC, and MSNBC are popularity watched in barber shops, beauty salons, restaurants, and business waiting rooms but it has been shown that they don’t perform proper reporting, only showing the side that is beneficial for their donors. For each channel you can find a case study that verifies this claim:
CNN reporting on Russia gate only showing the case that supports in collusion, and never showing the case that doesn’t support the collision.
Fox insistent reporting on the caravan never discussion why there is a caravan and the US role in creating those caravans. Those caravans consist of countries in Central America (Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador), wherein the U.S. had an active role in destabilizing and even weaponizing these countries. Now instead of taking responsibility, they took the other day. It comes to the point where they even call those 3 countries the 3 Mexicos.
I think MSNBC is the most popular in its reporting on Russia gate since it benefited in ratings using it as its main focus for the last years. Fear mongering on Russia when a lot of what Russia is accused of can be traced back to the U.S. Like the hacking of the DNC servers would have been difficult to perform through the internet but not impossible with a USB drive showing that would have been likely done by someone living on the U.S. with physical access to the server. Also, let’s not forget that the NSA knows everything and in most cases is ready for retaliation. If the so-called attack was detected they would have easily retaliated and located the perpetrators. It wouldn’t be the first time.
It is sad when mainstream media use this incomplete reporting and unknowingly helps them spread their biased message instead of looking for other sources and corroborate information. I know it’s hard to believe and get accustomed to but it is the era of fact-checking: fact-checking news organizations, and their sources.
Luckily there are a few independent journalists who do proper reporting but don’t have the platform like CNN to promote the truth. In addition, you also have regular people that take the time to look for the facts and report them. The mainstream media has become so mediocre that even regular people can do better reporting than them. This gives me hope that there are still people willing to defend the integrity of information.
