RE: Everything Is Possible | A Mindblowing Glimpse Into the World of "Free Soloing"
Never been scared of heights but seeing Alex hang there when the wind is blowing is just so surreal. I would be scared because in that position I don't have the luxury of freaking out or stopping. It's a "climb or die" commitment and that seems too out of this world for me to even consider. Knowing "I CAN'T get worried or fearful" is what would make it so appealing for my mind to get scared in the first place.
A bad trip is bad enough trying to get away from myself, but that only takes part in the mind. This stuff here is literally physical.
Wish we had some mountains here... If there is a fence I generally don't mind extreme heights ;)
"A bad trip is bad enough trying to get away from myself, but that only takes part in the mind. This stuff here is literally physical." This kind of reminds me of a bit by the comedian Doug Stanhope. I can't remember which album it is from though. That is the truth though. I liked to hike up trails or at the most "crab walk" down a steep dry stream bed but when it comes to taking things to their extremes, I prefer to do it in my head lol.
The mountains in my area are pretty unimpressive as far as mountains go but they are still fun to go climb around on. You do have to watch out for snakes and there are a few mountain lions roaming around so you do take a kind of risk I guess. A lot of people go armed for that reason but I never did because the odds of actually being attacked by some dangerous animal are pretty low as long as you be careful about what you are doing. Plus, I would feel pretty terrible if I shot an animal. Then again, I might not think that if one was in the process of eating me lol.
We are so much alike in so many ways ;)
