Suffice It as a Warning
When the Caliph passed into the hands of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, Thawus received a letter from Amir al-mu'minin whose contents, "Give me advice, O Abu Abdirrahman!"
** Shortly after the Muslim caliph of Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik bin Marwan dropped his belongings near the Baitul Atiq, then let go of his longing for the Ka'ba, he turned to his guard and said, "Seek a pious man who can warn us in the glorious day in between these days of God. "**
The bodyguard went to meet the people who were on hajj and asked as desired by the caliph. People say, "Here is Thawus bin Kaisan, the fiqh scholar of the most honest of his words in dawa to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. So see her. "
The guard approached Thawus and said, "Come with us, Amir al-mu'minin invites you, shaykh!"
Without wasting time, Thawus followed him. According to him that every da'i should not waste time if there is a chance. Every time they are invited, they hurry up. He also believes that the main sentence to be conveyed is the correct sentence to straighten the rulers who deviate and keep them away from injustice and cruelty, as well as bring them closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
Arriving in front of Amir al-mu'minin, he greeted and was greeted very kindly. Then the caliph guided him to his council, then asked about the question of the rituals of the hadj. He listened diligently and respectfully.
When he felt that Amir al-mu'minin had obtained the necessary information and no question was asked, Thawus said to himself, "This is the assembly which you will be called to account by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, O Thawus."
Thawus, turned to the caliph and said, "O Amir al-mu'minin, there is indeed a big rock at the edge of the well of jahannam. The stone was thrown to the bottom of the jahannas and only reached its base after 70 years. Do you know who the well was provided, O Amir al-mu'minin? "
The Caliph said, "No, duh hell, for who is it?"
Thawus bin Kaisan replied, "To those who are God's law enforcers but he corrupts them."
Suddenly the body of the Caliph Sulayman trembled until I assumed his soul would fly from his body. After that he burst into tears. Then Thawus left the majlis and went home while the Caliph prayed for Thawus to get more than God's reward.
When the Caliph passed into the hands of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, Thawus received a letter from Amir al-mu'minin whose contents, "Give me advice, O Abu Abdirrahman!"
Thawus answered the letter with a short line, "If you want all your good deeds, then raise the guards from good people too, wassalam."
In order to read the letter of reply Umar ibn Abdul Aziz's caliph said, "Suffice it as a warning ... suffice it as a warning ..."
