The synthetic muscles printed on the 3D-printer are three times stronger than humansteemCreated with Sketch.

Androids became even more perfect, thanks to artificial muscles which will allow them to lift freight in 1000 times more of a body weight.

New artificial muscles are developed by the team of engineers of Columbia University headed by professor Hod Lipson. They are created by the 3D method - the press and have unique plasticity and mobility. Muscles can make the pusher movements, with their help it is possible to pull, bend, twist and also to lift freights.

The ability to lift heavy freights is provided at the expense of a combination of the powerful electric drive and silicone rubber to low density in which microvials of ethanol are distributed. 3D - the press gives to muscles the necessary form, and in action they are put by a power source with tension of only 8 volts.

According to professor Lipson, unlike "rigid" robots androids with soft muscles will be able to reproduce more naturally the hvatatelny movements and to carry out various thin manipulations — for example, to provide medical care or to select soft objects.

During experiences of a muscle it was succeeded to stretch up to 900% of their initial size, thanks to heating to 80 гр. S. Seychas in plans of developers to connect artificial intelligence to management of muscles that will considerably increase the accuracy of the carried-out movements and system response speed.

Wow, this is truly incredible!

Better idea to make our androids out of a synthetic instead of making them armoured metal droids. This way we have a better chance to defeat them if they go all terminator on us!

Can't wait to trade in this body for a shiny new chrome one, hopefully there won't be any bugs on day 1.
