Inktober Day 1: Poisonous
Is it funny that I saw the word “Poisonous” and thought of this scene from The Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers?
I’ve got the video clip of Eowyn telling Wormtounge, “Your words are poison.” Below! Ugh, it’s so good! I’m itching to watch all the movies now!

I didn’t even realized it was October until I started scrolling down my steemit feed and saw a bunch of inktober posts! It really inspired me so this year I’m going to give it a try! Inking has always intimidated me so I’ve never participated in an #inktober, this is my first time so wish me luck! I’m looking to change that and hopefully by the end of this month I’ll greatly improve. Besides that, I’d like to brighten my mood and get on track with posting daily again.
I did an outline sketch in pencil using a reference photo that I found. The hardest thing was to stop myself from drawing in the details since I knew this would be inked.
Choosing the right ink tool took me awhile but third time’s the charm! Here I’m using the Ink Bleed tool on the facial features.
To save time, I decided to use a separate layer for the arm and clothing. Gradually adjusting the perspective with the liquify tool. The necklace turned out better than I had anticipated.
I almost threw in the towel when I got to the hair. Is wasn’t sure where I wanted to take this drawing. I attempted to blackout Wormtounge’s hair and use highlights for subtle texture. Instead I opted to go for detail and I’m glad that I did. I’m definitely more satisfied with Eowyn’s wavy locks.
A wash of color in the background to make the characters pop and my first ever #inktober drawing is done!

I thought I’d give digital inking a try yesterday to learn something new this inktober... but just getting used to the small size of the tablet, looking on the screen and not looking on my hands plus the weird plastic feel took two hours 😱
how do you do that???
In the end I gave up on doing something complicated and just drew a 🍄 😅

I dunno how I do it because there is a difference to drawing digitally versus traditionally but for some reason the glass doesn’t bother me. Fingerprints and smudges on the screen drive me nuts some days but it’s not too bad. 😌

I’m glad you liked it! It took a lot of energy out of me and the hair was sooo hard!!! I’m thrilled that he looks creepy! Yay! Success!! 😄🎉
I used clip studio paint which came with the little tablet.
It d be cool to try drawing directly on the screen 🤔 some day perhaps :)
Oh! I have that but I haven’t gotten around to using it yet, only test scribbles.
I’m sure you’ll eventually get the hang of it once you have the right combination of tools. Maybe do most of your sketches beforehand and then scan them to finish painting digitally? I could see you doing that and I should try that one day too!
Yay, you're doing #inktober as well! I'm excited how many steemians are participating. This is an amazing first one. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it every day,but I'll try anyway.
I haven't seen these movies in awhile either, but I have to focus this month, next month I'll watch movies...Christmas movies! I'm such a sap I love all the Christmas Holiday stuff.
There are a lot of Steemians doing inktober! I think that’s why I decided to join in as well. :) Hopefully we can motivate each other because I’m not sure if I’ll get one done everyday. It’s gobba require a lot of brainstorming!
Oh! I love watching my favorite Halloween movies and then going into Christmas movies too!

I will be enjoying myself so much looking at all these Inktober pieces for the whole month huhuhu. You captured this scene pretty well, especially the characters' expressions are nicely done. I'll be looking forward for more ^_^.

The inktober sketches are so fun to look at!! I’m trying to only look at the ones here on Steemit or else I’ll waste the entire day browsing versus drawing!
Thanks! Getting the correct expressions and face shapes were hard. It could’ve been because I was tired but maintaining the same pressure to get the line weight that I wanted was difficult. I almost gave up but I’m glad that I didn’t!

Yeah, the Apple Pen is amazing! It feels like I’m using a real pencil! That’s probably why I haven’t gone back to traditional tools.
I still like traditional sketching the most but digital work comes with much more creative possibilities and you can work much faster...

Oh, I totally agree! I work way faster using digital tools and it’s easier to pack up my iPad when I travel.

Your drawing is very good the hair almost made you throw in the towel but the result is very good the drawing I love! is it difficult to ink in tablets?
Recent buy a tablet but I still have trouble getting used to it, it seems that she will eat me, I have some fear hehehe !. I have some problems because I do not know why they serve some things, it frustrates me a lot sometimes.
But while I learn I made my own, although in the end I look like an octopus, wet with ink hehehehe

It’s really difficult for me to ink on a tablet because I haven’t really found an ink tool that works for me. It could also be that I lack experience in inking.
I’m sure if you continue to practice then one day it’ll feel more natural!
I think the transition from paper to digital is a bit strange for me, it will be because of the habit of always seeing the drawing and with the tablet I can not, I only see the computer and I get a little lost. I'm going through 🐢 but I'll have to get used to some day hehehe.
hmmm the brushes, yes! I think there are many and different styles and finding the one you like is a bit difficult, I hope you find it and you feel good with it!
