RE: Solar power back up batteries are best found by thinking outside the box, The lead acid box that is....
Well I'm not saying that you shouldn't go. there would probably be a big celebration party after you left and think of all the things all you scientists could work on uninterrupted on the way there! Might solve alot of big problems.
I would celebrate...no more Texas Bigfoot, ROFLOL!
That would have to be a colony ship, with a lot of embryos for genetic width, to ensure viability. THAT would be a challenge for sure!

I suppose someone has all this stuff figured out in case they actually build it. Or maybe someone IS building it.
It has been figured out in Sci-fy for half a century! Technology has caught up with sci-fy; it only lacks funding....

oh..well that's good I'm sure. I'm surprised funding isn't there.
Not a cheap process....
But it would be Glorious! What would it be worth to plant Humankind on another planet? We would need to send a Robot first, to be sure the target world was a good place to live.

well sir I still don't know why anyone would want to but obviously I'm not a visionary!
Can you imagine seeing an entirely new planet? The possibilities are endless, and a second colony would be amazing! They should practice on Mars, while the Robot ships make their surveys of the best target worlds. We could get the colony planning down that way while we could still help if required.

I can't see it sir smithlabs, I think it's nuts but I like movies about it.
