I know they are but they can only do that while they control the value of the money supply - as soon as they don't bullion will go nuts.
I'd be more than happy to take payment in bullion because I'm very confident it will go up
To get one requires strangling the "others" and nobody is up for the job!
Another thing that people use as a value of trade is bags of bud - anything with an agrred value can work - i just think currency of any type has no inherent value, while silver or pot or bananas for example, all do
